Re: Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

I just tried this in my 2015 - 15 mph and hard brake. Car stopped instantly. Was the road wet? Gravel? The ABS keeps the wheels from locking up - if you were on a slippery or loose surface and slammed on the brakes, the ABS might allow some travel - but less than without ABS, because then you'd just...

Re: Great Emergency Fuel Can

Anyone know about the safety of carrying gas in the Frunk? Well, you already have a 2.5 gallon gas 'can' built into the frunk, a little better protected maybe, but still there. Heavy metal gas cans are pretty safe, particularly in EVs. Car fires happen when either the fuel line or the gas tank is b...

REx oil and coolant levels checked? Oil of course checked through port in the cargo floor/engine cover. To check coolant, you need to remove the cargo floor/engine cover. You will see a domed cap with a triangle and thermometer printed on it for the coolant (don't put just any antifreeze in - requir...

Re: End of production

Maybe I choose cars for odd reasons, but I would never consider buying a Model 3 because of its size, weight, and body style. For those who want a compact hatchback EV, an i3 would be chosen over a Model 3. I don't care whether the prices are similar. I think this applies to a lot of i3 owners, mys...

Re: End of production

Tesla Model 3 stomps BMW i3. Different customers. On top of that the Model 3 is even worse than the Mini as far as reliability issues are concerned. Green Car Reports wrote that Model 3 “build quality was the worst we have seen on any new car from any maker over the last 10 years”. A report in the ...

Re: End of production

Mini Cooper EV is about as fun-to-drive & priced better, at $25k after Fed rebate. The MINI is limited, in that it is basically a two-person car. No one over the age of 5 can comfortably sit in the back seat of a 2-door MINI, where the i3 back seat is actually usable. And the cargo area in a MINI i...

Re: My first 24 hours with a 2020 i3s REX

I think the next most important one to tint is the windshield. When I bought my i3, the first owner had it all tinted with high-end ceramic tint, including the windshield. I had to remove the windshield tint because it bothered my eyes. It's a plastic - plus a layer of adhesive, so not as clear/ref...

Re: Warranty replacement of 12 V battery

I purchased a CPO 2017 REx in 2019 and think there might be something going on with the 12v, but dealership says not covered under warranty? Is there a difference in how i3s utilize this battery verses how ICE vehicles use their battery? Why are some dealers replacing these 12v batteries under warr...
