Re: Connected Services Ending - Offical

Someone posted on FB that initially BMW sent the same kind of letter to BMW owners about the switch from 2G to 3G, but enough people complained, that they went ahead and offered the upgrade.

Re: Connected Services Ending - Offical

BMW's position seems to be that it is not willing to assist in this upgrade. Doubly strange is that they are offering the upgrade to other BMW models of similar year manufacturer. An owner posted on FB that he got two letters from BMW one for his 2116 435 and it says the upgrade is available, and g...

Connected Services Ending - Offical

Got this email today: There are important ConnectedDrive service changes affecting your 2015 i3, Vehicle Identification Number ending in 4145. The decision to phase out 3G network technology was made at the discretion of the respective cellular carriers and lies beyond the control of BMW. As a resul...

Re: Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

I just tried this in my 2015 - 15 mph and hard brake. Car stopped instantly. Was the road wet? Gravel? The ABS keeps the wheels from locking up - if you were on a slippery or loose surface and slammed on the brakes, the ABS might allow some travel - but less than without ABS, because then you'd just...

Re: Great Emergency Fuel Can

Anyone know about the safety of carrying gas in the Frunk? Well, you already have a 2.5 gallon gas 'can' built into the frunk, a little better protected maybe, but still there. Heavy metal gas cans are pretty safe, particularly in EVs. Car fires happen when either the fuel line or the gas tank is b...

REx oil and coolant levels checked? Oil of course checked through port in the cargo floor/engine cover. To check coolant, you need to remove the cargo floor/engine cover. You will see a domed cap with a triangle and thermometer printed on it for the coolant (don't put just any antifreeze in - requir...

Re: End of production

Maybe I choose cars for odd reasons, but I would never consider buying a Model 3 because of its size, weight, and body style. For those who want a compact hatchback EV, an i3 would be chosen over a Model 3. I don't care whether the prices are similar. I think this applies to a lot of i3 owners, mys...

Re: End of production

Tesla Model 3 stomps BMW i3. Different customers. On top of that the Model 3 is even worse than the Mini as far as reliability issues are concerned. Green Car Reports wrote that Model 3 “build quality was the worst we have seen on any new car from any maker over the last 10 years”. A report in the ...
