Re: Hold State of Charge Feature for REX i3s

On the Bimmercode sit, they have a list of the ones they have tested to work well with the app and the BMW ODB II ports. ODB ports all meet a 'standard' but each car manufacturer will have their own additional port protocols.

Re: Hold State of Charge Feature for REX i3s

You need the BimmerCode App, and an OBD dongle to connect to the car.

After that, it's as simple as clicking on selection buttons in the app.

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

Are they really saying they built the entire car in 2014 and can't figure out how to make the 2017 module talk to the 2014 vehicle? I think they are saying they don't want to spend the money. It's not rocket surgery :x All the 'talk-box' is, is a cell modem like you'd use with a laptop. It has a po...

Re: What is the charge rate of reduced speed 120V charging?

From another site have seen this: "For the i3 level one charging, 12, 9, and 6 amps at maximum, reduced and low settings." You can convert amps to watts by multiplying amps x 120 volts. Therefore, a 6-amp charge cycle draws about 720 watts. If you do that for five hours, you would use 3.6 kwh (720 x...

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

assume that 4G is going to be needed and will remain as the cellular backbone, particularly in lower-density areas.
Any insight on this?
From what have heard, carriers plan on keeping 4G around for at least another decade - so minimum 10 years.

Re: Edmunds TCO - Fact or Fiction?

I think they are using MPGe for the "fuel" calculation, to give some value to home and on-the-road charging, Ok, that makes sense, though there has to be a better term to use than 'fuel' for an EV :P If my math is right, they show an average of .08 cents a mile for 'fuel' cost, which seems pretty h...

Re: Edmunds TCO - Fact or Fiction?

Yes, totally bogus numbers. Look at the fuel costs listed - $2,959. That calculates out at almost 6,000 miles a year running on the REx? That would work out to running on the REx 50% of the time for an 'average' mileage car. And maintenance at $6,930? The first three years of maintenance are include...
