Re: J adaptors to Tesla chargers

One thing to consider on something like this is that the Tesla wall units apparently have a setting that can turn on/off "sharing" with unauthorized cars (and only Teslas can authorize correctly): https://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17043&p=65809#p65809 So, even with a fully functioni...

Re: Anyone else having issues with BMW connect App not working?

FWIW, I just checked both BMW Connected and MyBMW apps and they were able to display the status of my car. I sent commands to the car via both apps and weirdly the BMW Connected one succeeded (allegedly) and the MyBMW app command failed twice with "Something went wrong, Retry?" I'm in the midwest US...

Re: Connected Services Ending - Offical

this would put the upgrade approaching $2 grand, a cost BMW isn't willing to absorb. Bingo. BMW's 2014 Sales Department wrote a check that BMW's 2021 Accounting Department wants to withhold funds from. They absolutely *could* do this upgrade. They just choose not to because it would be expensive. T...

Re: Software update needed for HV battery capacity check

As someone in a rather similar position, this is a bit frustrating to hear. My only helpful advice would be that you could try calling different dealers around you to see if anyone is more receptive to your situation. Now, for my griping: I am not a lawyer but I am perplexed how BMW could require a ...

Re: Charting Battery Capacity/ State of Health Over Multiple Years

It's been 5 months since my original post so I figured it'd be a good time to post an update to this data. Plus, the weather has turned warmer for the season so the winter decline in Batt Kapa Max seems to be over for this year. Same disclaimers from original post apply (not a random sample of data,...

Re: Air Conditioning for Pets

Keep in mind there's no message on the center display like Tesla's "Dog Mode" so depending where you park and outdoor conditions, you run the risk of a passerby thinking your pet is trapped in a hot car and "saving it" by breaking your window! :)

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

On the one hand I get that BMW is not on the hook for AT&T's network decisions, BUT... On the other hand, BMW already upgraded the "internet-talky-box" on the i3 to work with 4G. Are they really saying they built the entire car in 2014 and can't figure out how to make the 2017 module talk to the 201...

Re: My husband hit an illegal left turn and now the damage on our i3

Glad you got your car back, even if it did take a long time! Off-topic, I have the exact same color scheme and am intrigued because the hood is body colored (laurel grey), not black. I was wondering if somehow the previous owner painted or wrapped mine but seeing another one makes that seem less lik...

Re: HSC vs public charging

My math is as follows (though I don't have a REX): The EPA says 33.7 kilowatt hours of electricity is equivalent to one gallon of gasoline. That means your cost for the same amount of energy as a gallon of gas is: Home: 0.09$/kWh * 33.7kWh/"gal" = $ 3.03 $/"gal" Away: 0.43$/kWh * 33.7kWh/"gal" = $14...

Re: i3 won’t charge at home, does at dealership

So, to summarize: 1) Your dealer's EVSE charges your car, ergo your car is working fine. 2) Your EVSE charges other cars fine, ergo your EVSE is working fine. 3) Your EVSE does not charge your car, ergo one of those two things is malfunctioning. Obviously those 3 conclusions cannot all be true. With...
