Re: Newbie

Just traded my es300h Lex for a REX today. I tested one for a few days with carvana a few years ago but I recall one night I got in and the inside lit up blue, does the REX do that? it is a MEGA model, also what would be considered off peak times to charge? I am in Washington state, thanks. I'm now...

Re: ConnectedDrive

I am happy to report that I pulled Fuse 115 and allowed the cellular modem to reboot. Now, all remote app functions are WORKING, including the ones that previously were not functioning for me. Interesting. From the problems you described, that seems to indicate that the inbound connection becomes f...

Re: I3 vs i3s new member

My wife's favorite part of the car is the "his and hers" sunroofs. Or moonroofs. Or T-top. Ha! That way everyone can flame me for writing the wrong thing! She's pretty unimpressed with manual seats and the general austerity of the cabin, but the sunroof, she likes. That said, the sunroof/moonroof/t-...

Re: Luxury i3?

Curious, since back door cannot be opened without opening front door, the back passenger cannot come out by themselves .... Not sure , who would fancy that in a Luxury car... The concept doesn't have a front seat, so there's no front passenger in the way. It might be an awkward reach, but the front...

Re: Regen and creep operation?!

Follow-up question: What is the anti-rollback mechanism on the i3? It certainly isn't the parking brake. Does it hydraulically engage the brake if it senses rearward movement? Does it engage a one-way clutch somewhere along the drivetrain? Is it electrical resistance being applied through the motor...

Re: Article on High Mileage i3's

(I rarely charge at home, due to my 1st floor apartment making it awkward... Lol, you ought to change to a 2nd floor unit so you can throw a cord over the balcony and let it hang above the sidewalk! But in all seriousness, my garage is right off the sidewalk so I lay a heavy rubber doormat over my ...

Re: Can not send messages to my i3

Remote services have at least the appearance of being less reliable than the simple status reports, since the BMW server has to poll the car which then must respond to the request to set a destination, lock/unlock doors, sound the horn, climatize, etc. OTOH, when you check charge status, door lock s...

Re: Poor REX Mpg on motorway

If you're using a British gallon (5 qts) versus a US gallon (4 qts), then 30mpg is pretty poor. Otherwise, it's on par with what I've heard from other people. If you can't recharge, and are running a long trip almost entirely on petrol, there are LOTS of other vehicles that are more efficient. The ...

Re: Poor REX Mpg on motorway

REX fuel efficiency is nowhere near the electric efficiency. I think it's supposed to be in the 30s, but at 75 MPH, it's fair to expect less than that. Consumer Reports magazine in the US computed the REX efficiency to be in the low 30s (MPG) so your experience is on par with that.

Re: ConnectedDrive

Wow. I hadn't even thought about the google operating system and what that would do to stalk you. I have to admit I haven't tried using myself. It might be for the best just to take the battery out if you use an android OS device. That has the obvious limitations, of course. A friend of mine does ju...
