When you tested your aux battery, was there a load on it when you got that 5.7V reading?

Thanks!
No load on the battery during my test.

Re: Heater?

Given the cost of new wheels and winter tires, it is more likely that my i3 will sit on those days. My Ram truck will need some exercise anyway...

Re: ConnectedDrive

My ConnectedDrive started working a few weeks ago and has been working perfectly since. Just in time for our hot weather, fortunately. I'm guessing that BMW did some server upgrades on their end.

Re: My i3 is Dead

It took my local mechanic about 30 minutes by the time he hooked up his equipment, found the right numbers on the battery, etc. When he was done he said "no charge" but I gave him $40 anyway.

Re: My i3 is Dead

Interesting note about the DC fast charging. Definitely something to keep in mind.

I'm not sure how much I'll worry about this since BMW has built in the manual unlock provision. But if I ever need to use it and it snaps off, I'll wish I had...

Re: My i3 is Dead

Not sure about the light. I will have to check again. I agree that defeating the solenoid lock would be the correct approach. I know absolutely nothing about electronics but it would seem that one could remove the panel to expose the solenoid and wire in some sort of override switch. Which makes me ...

Re: My i3 is Dead

Good to know about the manual release for the flap and the cord, but a bit discouraging to hear that they are prone to breaking. Just found out some interesting stuff when I went out to take a look at this: If the cord is plugged into the car but not into a power outlet, locking the doors doesn't lo...

Re: My i3 is Dead

[snip] As for the ability of a dead 12V battery to leave a car stranded and unable to move, that's just one way it can happen. A week after I picked up my i3, the charger port locking solenoid failed. I could not remove the OUC cable from the car, and in a catch-22 it will not go into drive readine...

Re: Where'd My Battery Go???

Well, good news. It looks like the dying 12v battery was the culprit. I replaced the battery and left the i3 sitting in the garage last night at 70% charge. This morning, 13 hours later, it is still sitting at 70%. Hallelujah!

Re: My i3 is Dead

Thanks VREIHEN for that disturbing information. One more thing for me to be paranoid about... :D
