Re: I3 vs i3s new member

The REx is way more of a performance penalty than the moonroof. 300 lbs of REx vs 40 lbs of sunroof (albeit the sunroof is at the highest point, so raises the COG).

Re: I3 vs i3s new member

Skipping the range extender and moonroof is more impactful to the sportiness of the car than getting the S. If you value performance, skip the two options you mentioned.

Of course, the sportiest would be the S with no range extender or sunroof.

Re: new household plug for level 1 charging - how many amps?

As long as you're getting a plug added, why not make it 240V instead of 120? Even if it's only 20 amps (and use a 240V 16A charger). The car uses less power to charge the same amount on 240V than 120V (aka 240V charging is more efficient than 120V charging). A 240V 16A charger can be had for $200 us...

Re: The longer look down the road

I also do all the work on all my ICE cars. The truth of a BEV i3 is... it pretty much doesn't need any work done. It has ~8 bushings (that are cheap), brakes last forever, and the only fluid that needs changing is brake fluid. Used low mileage batteries from crashed i3s currently go for $3000-5000. ...

Re: Fed up with my 94ah REX - 6 weeks!!

Yeah... my gas cars are all of the not slow sort, so they get somewhere between 15 and 20 mpg. 93 near me is ~3.25-3.50 a gallon.

Adds up fast! We take the i3 any time we're going less than 100 miles and the roads we're driving on aren't going to be fun-- which is 95% of the time, sadly.

Re: Fed up with my 94ah REX - 6 weeks!!

Just think about that. A car that goes about 85 miles max at a time, and I put over 10,000 on it in a single year. Mine is a mix of 65% highway and rest on city streets. Car rides smooth at 80 mph (yeah, I do drive that fast - gotta keep up with Phoenix traffic!) and HOV lane access is a plus. We'r...

Re: Retrofitting black alcantara headliner in my MY2019 i3S 120Ah

Nice. I did that project in my M3 twice-- once when it had a sunroof, and then again once I nixed the sunroof. It really makes the car feel much more upscale, and here you get the added benefit of getting rid of the grey. What color code alcantara are you using? And... what's the purpose of the plas...

Re: First week review with our new 2019 i3s

Steering feel is pretty garbage on all i3s (and all EPS cars I've driven) compared to a traditional HPS setup. But, glad to hear it's better on the s!

Re: Shall i buy one.

94ah and 33kwh are two different ways of describing the same battery. You want the bigger (94ah/33kwh) battery for sure. I also do 100-120 miles per day, mostly highway. I have a (94ah) BEV, but I can charge at work-- if I couldn't, I'd want the bigger (94ah) battery AND the rex (with the hope of ne...

Re: How much has your electric bill increased?

OP: Depends on your electric cost. Ours is $0.068/kwh. The i3 gets 3-5 miles per kwh. Assuming 4 miles per kwh and a 25 miles of driving per day, you'd spend ~$0.43 per day on electricity. Where on earth do you buy electricity for less than 7 cents/kWh? Hydro-Quebec-land, perhaps? Ha. I guess it's ...
