Re: Resonant hum

I hope this is all covered. Since BMW was last to touch it, and the inspection should include a look at the brake pads, the cross threaded lugs at minimum should have been caught. Whether the tech was responsible, or responsible for noticing, that the tires were crossed, well, that's almost a second...

Re: Used BMW i3 Inventory - Good or Bad news?

I've been half contemplating selling the 2017 BEV and picking up a 2029, but inventories are thin and the retail value on mine seems lower than I anticipated, so I'm staying put .

Re: Resonant hum

I'm at a disadvantage too, because I rarely charge to 100%, and when I do, it's at work on the flatlands. But on those rare instances, I have noted (with alarm!) an unmistakable lack of regen approaching intersections.

Re: Resonant hum

... at higher charge levels, an i3 might be mimicking pure regen braking power at lower charge levels by blending lower regen braking power with friction brakes. I'm not aware of the friction brakes being applied in the absence of regen. If my 2017 can't regen (usually at 100% charge or on a chopy ...

Re: Resonant hum

I hope it hasn't done any damage to the car. .. Please do a thorough inspection of the inner sidewall of the tire that was rubbing — that could have created a full circumference "easy open" weak spot that could result in a catastrophic blow out, if it's gone on for long enough. I hope your dealersh...

Re: Portable charging blinking red on indoor outlet but working on outdoor outlet

Yes, they're designed for outdoor use. The receptacle sound be covered if there's rain, but that's not EVSE-specific advice.

Re: Portable charging blinking red on indoor outlet but working on outdoor outlet

It's most likely your wiring, not the GFI. The most frequent fault seems to be a bad or missing ground, but the EVSE also acts at pseudo GFI except that instead of "popping" like the one in the wall, it simply shows an error and won't feed the car. Do you have one of those plug in 3-lamp circuit che...

Re: 20 inch wheels refurb in gloss black

Might be safest if you want to remove it easily, but dipped wheels start looking ratty pretty quickly.

Re: Questions from a new 2016 owner

No there is a difference 43 front, 53 rear (5.5 wheel). Starting with the 5.0, think of the 5.5 as gaining 6mm on each side, but then moving that inside lip 10mm closer to the suspension when factoring in the increases offset. That's a loss of 16mm of clearance. Because that's the stock setup, you k...

Re: Questions from a new 2016 owner

I have 4 5j whells size on front and rear with 155 standard tyre size. I would like to know if i can put out 175 60 19 tyres on my rear wheels.... Does anybody knows? The 17 5 will definitely fit the 5.9 wheel. You need to determine if the extra rubber will clear the suspension components. When I'v...
