Re: How much has your electric bill increased?

Question for ENATE: I have the PGE plan EV2-A just south of you and per my daily usage graphs, my off-peak rate is $0.24/kwh, peak rate at 43 cents/kwh (was 56 cents/kwh this summer). Your new plan is significantly lower than what I'm paying based on your graph. What plan are you currently signed u...

Re: How much has your electric bill increased?

I'm new to the forum and I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking at getting an i3 and was curious about the electric bill too. I've heard different stories about it, but I don't think anyone can answer without trying it out for themselves. You can definitely get very close. The i3 has a reference ...

Re: Buying advice - 2014 or 2019

Hi David and welcome. Easy stuff first, the wheels and the interior vary by trim so you'll see options if you're not locked in to just those two cars you seem to have settled on. You mention suspension and ride quality: definitely opt for the 19" wheels if this is important to you. Comfier ride...

Re: BEV No Heat, Again...

The "recall" for the 2017+ cars is for the Service Action 3G sunset. I'm not sure if it's a full software update or just a patch. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10200489-9999.pdf Yep thats the update I got... which makes no sense as the 2019 i3 already has 4G, there's nothing t...

Anybody Following David Tracy's i3 Saga?

Auto journalist David Tracy of The Autopian formerly of Jalopnik bought an i3 -- an old and extremely high mileage i3 -- and has been posting a series of stories leading up to it and now post-purchase. If you don't know David, he usually buys rusty junk and gets it running. A few years ago he travel...

Re: Odd Exterior "Burnt" Odor assc. w/ 12v Batt or Heater / Precon...

Oh and here's the extra info I didn't include: I called for the tow. While waiting, the tow driver called and convinced me to try charging the battery before he arrived, just to get it out of Park and make it easier to load. He showed up and I had only just connected my trickle charger to the jump p...

Thanks Art and perhaps you're correct in that assessment.

There is not so much as even a lingering odor when I've sniffed under the hood on multiple occasions now. So I'm going to continue on as if the problem is corrected.

At least I know what to expect next time I smell that smell!

Odd Exterior "Burnt" Odor assc. w/ 12v Batt or Heater / Precon...

So to cut the quick, my '21 was producing an exterior odor I associate with a burned soup pot (like from my restaurant days, when the double boiler ran dry of water). BMW changed the 12 volt battery and so far the problem is gone. Of course, the details: I noticed this odor after the car climatized ...

Re: 2017 vs 2019

There are clear delineations in value that step with the battery size, but there's also the added value of much improved headlights with the refresh, and updated iDrive with much more responsive voice recognition. Otherwise, pretty much the same car. I drove my 2017 BEV beyond its 4th birthday and a...
