Re: Software update needed for HV battery capacity check

...I had no idea there was head and tail buffers, but I don’t think that changes the actual problem, either. Yes and no. BMW is around 5% at the top and slightly more at the bottom, but this is in line what other manufacturers do. Technology evolves, and for example, VW uses a newer BMS that reserv...

Re: Mileage Estimation

A bit of transparency would be nice, right? My Audi had a "Eco" screen that showed me I was taking a mileage hit for having my windows open or AC cranked up. BMW could do similar with a table showing "this is because you were just driving like an idiot, this is because it's cold as snot outside, thi...

Re: new I3 REX owner. some questions. sorry.

Mute is the new Off. It's like my cell phone, which has a built in FM tuner. If I'm NOT listening to FM radio (which, frankly, is almost always) it's not as if the section of motherboard that supplies power to the turner cuts power to that processor, it just... doesn't use it. However, I'm curious, ...

Re: new I3 REX owner. some questions. sorry.

With regard to the charging to 100%, BMW encourages this and in fact offers no way (in-car) to set a lower charge limit. However, I'll point out that BMW is using Samsung battery tech that is not very different from the battery technology used in other EVs -- or in other words, it isn't anything nov...

Re: Deka World dominance?

It’s a shame that a light-colored leather option was never available. The light-color leather options (like “Oyster”) on BMW’s ICE cars are beautiful. I swapped dark leather Tera seats into a light Mega interior and l an super pleased with the contrasting look. Photos at the link in the first post:...

Re: Looking to buy a BMW i3 and need advice

In the press releases for the i3S rollout in 2018, BMW made as cryptic reference to new tapered roller bearings allowing to eeke a bit more performance from the drivetrain. No relevant parts numbers changed, the motor and gearbox port numbers are interchangable between the non-S and S, so whatever b...

Re: Sound proofing the motor sound?

That pedestrian acoustic warning system on the 2021 has been such a relief to me after 2 years in the 2017. While I appreciated living in my silent i3 bubble, the fact is I share this world with many other users, and I got weary of pedestrians (and sometimes cyclists) simply not being aware of my pr...

Re: Anyone Use Apple Maps for Routing?

I'm really enjoying nav on iDrive 6 in the 2021. Like you say, Arm, it's excellent. Quick, perfect speech recognition, solid database with relevant POI database results, EV-relevant routing, no excessive clicking / confirming. Just... stellar! But it wasn't this way in my 2017 and the pervious versi...

Re: Common for DC Charger to Reduce kWh BEFORE 80%?

The DCFC unit has its own cooling and power delivery parameters to contend with, so the fault could lie on either side of the charging port.
