Re: Android my BMW App Now Available in Play Store

There is one useful addition! From the app, the I can now set a "next departure" time that overrides the scheduled departure time. With this setting not available with the previous app, I could only change it in the car. Normally the option presents itself on the exit screen. In the app's presentati...

Re: Pre-heating the battery, not just the cabin.

Yes, indirectly, batteries warm as they charge, and a higher charge rate will result in a warner battery. If you're curious, you can access the secret menu to see the battery temperature during or following a charging session.

Re: Pre-heating the battery, not just the cabin.

Yes, if you're plugged in (even to 120 volts), and have a departure time set at least 3 hours in the future, the battery will be warmed. At 120 volts, because the load is greater than what's available through the cord, the battery will be used to make up the difference. It's not much though, maybe a...

Re: Keeping the i3, Bought an ID.4...

I've already contacted Wokeby of the I3 Trunk Extension to inquire about engineering a frunk retrofit. There's room for a small tray to carry the EVSE and tire kit.

Re: What is the charge rate of reduced speed 120V charging?

In the US, some stock OUCs are 12A and some are 10A, they varied over the years. You'll have to check your label on the back.

Re: What is the charge rate of reduced speed 120V charging?

It depends on your EVSE's base rate.

15A reduces to 11 and 8.

12A reduces to 9 and 6.

10A reduces to 8 and 6.

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

Anybody know if the current 4G BMW telematics units also support 3G? Remember when 4G was first rolling out the coverage was at first limited, then spotty, so phones needed to be able to still operate on 3G, and perhaps my first 4G phone still had CDMA as a backup. Anyhow, per tezarc's comment above...

Re: Keeping the i3, Bought an ID.4...

True, and there's no arguing the i3 is a unique design for the ages. But I do think the ID.4 stands out from the RAV4 / CRV form factor it's trying to muscle in on, and from my wife's standpoint, "it doesn't look like an SUV." But honestly, these IDs are going to be as common as Priuses (or, in Cali...

Keeping the i3, Bought an ID.4...

I bought a Volkswagen ID.4 about a week ago, as my wife's primary driver. It's an interesting take on the i3. Like the i3, the ID.4 is rear wheel drive (there's an AWD version coming this summer). As such, it lacks the torque steer that turned me off from buying a Kia eNiro. It also shares a similar...
