Re: Should I reverse coding before taking it into BMW for service?

I have brought my 2017 i3 REX still under warranty into the dealer for routine brake service and did not de-acrivate or reverse any changes made through Bimmercode, including automatic folding mirrors. Nothing was mentioned. Even my 12 Volt battery was replaced under warranty and the changes stuck....

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

I thought BMW said 3G would start going away Dec. 2021? :(

Re: Maximum range indicator

Since you're on #2 I'm sure you've already heard the routine, the range estimate is based on the last 18 miles of driven, battery temp & ambient temp, but may be modified if you enter a destination in nav. If you've been driving a number of relatively short trips on a non pre-conditioned battery, t...

Re: Maximum range indicator

I totally understand your concerns! It is very jarring and upsetting to see the range fluctuate so much. We have a 2020 Taycan Turbo and Porsche has nailed battery management....30F or 100F the range is not affected much at all. Is the actual range of your i3 fluctuating or is just the range estima...

Re: Maximum range indicator

Thanks for the responses. Very reassuring. Had we not test driven the other i3, that showed the exact stated range (114), I probably would not have thought much of it. Good to know it’s normal. :) I totally understand your concerns! It is very jarring and upsetting to see the range fluctuate so muc...

Re: Maximum range indicator

My 2019 will show 187 miles or more in warm weather, but it showed 147 miles today in my cold garage. The estimated mileage is in inverse with the temperature. My 2019 i3S and now my 2020 i3S usually shows (or I should say showed) 150-160 miles when fully charged. BUT....I am kind of freaking out. ...

Re: 12 volt Battery Warning

During the pandemic, our i3 has been driven only ~100 miles/month. Last week when I started our i3, the dreaded "Excessive battery discharge while stopped. Start the engine" message (paraphrased) was displayed. This must occur when the 12 V system voltage drops too low which could be due to a faili...

Re: Should I reverse coding before taking it into BMW for service?

I have not yet needed to take my 2020 i3S in for any repair, service or warranty work. I am trying to make the push for us to stop saying "coding" or "coded". None of us have coded our i3 cars. We simply and merely used Bimmercode to activate/unlock features that the i3 already has, was designed to ...

Re: BMW TeleService Battery Guard

This was also not an option on my 2019 i3 or 2020 i3. It seems this would be even more important for the i3 compared to other BMW models, since a bad 12V in an EV can be near catastrophic in terms or reliability and vehicle usage.

Re: Coding REX in Ohio

People talk about programming on BMWs, and that scares many people off. I Yeah. You need to realize that though people call it programming or coding, it really isn't at the basic user level. Think of it as an App interface that lets you turn on/off and set different functions already built in to yo...
