Re: To cancel or not

Dealerships are still open around here. They will drop off cars at your home for you to test drive, but the showrooms are open as normal. Pretty empty, no handshakes and people are keeping their distance, but I (finally) bought a used i3 this weekend. You are correct that the used marked has dropped...

Re: Finally test drove an i3

I searched CarGurus.com, Carvana and BMW's site for anything. The number of i3 REXs w/Tech package, Parking package and HK stereo is surprisingly low, at least what's out there for sale right now and what I've seen the last few months. I will not claim to have gotten a screaming deal, but within 100...

Finally test drove an i3

After months of being a member here, doing research, and honestly waiting until my home remodel project is finished I finally decided to at least test drive an i3. My kitchen/family room remodel is not done, but my daily driver is not being reliable and i3 prices have been dropping like a rock. Firs...

Re: Performance Mods? i3 M anyone?

I sometimes wonder what next generation of performance modding will be like. Will it be something like an inline amp and bigger motor (hiding as much as possible from the stock computer)? Computer coding that pushes stock motors harder (I assume there is some level of safety margin just like ICE)? S...

Re: BMW CEO - i3 Will Continue to Be Built

So I believe that's where BMW's loyalty to the i3's platform lies -- it's a dormant design, and they'll walk it as far as it'll walk. I'd bet you are right, but just for fun this is my uneducated and nearly baseless thoughts on how I think they could do a gen 2 for the masses. Give up on carbon fib...

Re: BMW CEO - i3 Will Continue to Be Built

I'll be completely honest, I see the i3 as having 4 big shortcomings that today can be overlooked or worked around, but not in the near future as EVs are about to flood the market. 1 - it's an ugly car. Sorry, but it is. I'm willing to accept that some people like the way it looks, but in the grand ...

Re: "Pay by the minute" EV charging prohibited in California

I'm a bit torn. In general I'm simply against gov't interference in businesses beyond protection (employees, consumers, environment). You can make a compelling argument that this is consumer protection - general public do not understand charging speeds, Ahs, KWs, etc. AND some vehicles charge faster...

Re: Mini EV will kill used i3 prices

And speaking of range, it is an overrated statistic that ignores the fact that the i3 is a small city car with perfectly adequate range in city driving. The decision to have a smaller battery was an engineering decision considering the intended use of the vehicle as a small every day urban car. Ran...

Re: 2016 REx Advice

If I read the question correctly, you can easily go 300 miles without charging. You can go 3,000 miles without charging. You'll be stopping to fill up the ridiculously small gas tank every 60 miles or so, but it's not going to hurt the REX engine. I've seen where other people who take their REX on l...

Re: 2014 - should I even consider one?

Sorry, I may have worded that confusingly. I know the BEV model in 2017 came as both 60Ah and 94Ah, and thought the REX did as well. It appears that every 2017 REX comes with the 94Ah battery, NOT that every 2017 94Ah is a REX.
