Re: i3 Noob Questions (brake and AC performance?)

Getting the ABS to kick in is not directly tied how far the pedal is pushed. It kicks in when it detects a wheel starting to lock up. This will be different pedal push distances depending on weather, speed, tire condition, road surfaces, turning or going straight..... Despite the skinny tires which ...

Re: Tire Questions for 2016 i3

When you say a lot of concerns and ask if it's a huge problem, what concerns? What problem? Some complain about the ride quality of 20s, but most people including myself think the 19s ride just fine. They are skinny which not only looks funny but also limit the handling. Good for rolling resistance ...

Re: Someone towed my BMW i3, it wasn't towed on a flatbed, EDME module failed

Or the tow company spotted the car and towed it. Many businesses with no parking areas have contracts with specific towing companies, and some of the more aggressive companies don't wait for calls, they have 'rovers' who drive around looking for illegally parked cars in the lots they service. This ...

Re: Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

I do wonder about one thing. Who did the AC recharge? It's suspicious to me that this catastrophic failure happened only 2 weeks after you had the AC recharged. My BMW sales dealer's service department did the original topping off of the refrigerant and claimed there was no problem found other than...

Re: Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

Poor design does not mean they are responsible after warranty. Lots of things on lots of cars have poor design. Unless that is directly leading the deaths (and sometimes not then-- E.g. chevy truck brake lines), your experience is what I'd expect. As crappy as it is, I have to agree. Speculation as...

Re: Warranty Showdown - CPO vs. Carvana vs. Carbiz

Thanks for the responses. I'll have a look at Carmax, good call. I just wasn't sure if there was a really strong reason to go with a CPO warranty and pay up for the car. I've seen a few mixed opinions on the forum and wasn't sure if there was a really compelling reason to pay more. Obviously the cr...

Re: Warranty Showdown - CPO vs. Carvana vs. Carbiz

The carvana one should have a couple extended warranty options up to probably 4 years/100k miles for a 2014. I don't know how all the warranties compare to each other - I went CPO for my 2017 (almost 2 years left), but a 4 or 5 year warranty through Carvana sounds better.

Re: 2017 i3 - voice command not working

Being a 2017 w/22k on the clock I'm assuming there is a year, give or take, left of the factory warranty. I honestly don't know if something like that is covered, but if you can't figure it out I'd just take it to a BMW dealer and have them look. Even if it's as simple as "you're doing it wrong, cha...

Re: Thoughts on cutting off 100% to account for lost capacity?

I think it would cause far more confusion. Non-stop "why will my car not charge all the way" comments. As ICE cars get old they sometimes lose mpg, or when you put different tires. Doesn't take much to get used to the new max range per fill-up when you throw a set of big mud terrain tires on your tr...

Re: Different wheels on i3?

I'm not in a position to experiment, and I don't really want to be the guinea pig, but as often as this topic comes up you'd think by now we'd have some solid guides. If an 18" wheel will clear brakes/suspension, then something like 215/55R18 on an 18"x7" wheel with the right offset seems like a gre...
