Re: Tire Pressures

I think they all need higher pressures, but especially the 20 inch rims, as they have less distance to go before the rim bottoms out on a pot hole. So you're suggesting that BMW has under-estimated the i3 tire pressures up through 2018? Rather than say they made a "mistake" I would prefer to say th...

Re: Range Extender won't start - Inlet camshaft sensor error

Sorry for the frustration. This is why I'd take my car to the dealer to have this battery replaced. It just isn't worth the headache and frustration changing out this battery causes as a DIY.

Re: Tire Pressures

Huh, I'm confused. I expected to find a chart of 19 vs. 20, i3 vs i3S, REX vs. BEV, but instead I'm just finding one combo for the i3, another for the i3S, and they seem to change from user report to user report, but nowhere am I finding a comprehensive breakdown for what and why. Yet it's confusin...

Re: “Idle” With A/C OK?

The A/C will cool the car but there is so much glass on the car that you really feel the radiative heat of the sun coming through even with the A/C cranking. In the tropics with higher average sun angles than in the middle latitudes, I feel more heat radiating down through the roof than entering th...

Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

The distinctions have nothing to do with categorizing by power level. Anything at or above 50kW is considered L3 in general until you start entering HP territory. You are essentially breaking down the level categories into the sub-categories for the two types of current types...which to most people ...

Re: i3 Motor/gearbox failure... help!

There are many reports of gearbox/motor failures, most are fixed under warranty, so make sure you get a warranty. Of course some cars will do more than 100K although I doubt that many 64ah BEV's will have, given the poor range. The BMW lifecycle cost model is based on 150K Kilometres/90K Miles and ...

Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

50kW isn't considered L2. I'm in the business. You're being sloppy with your use of various charging levels because you don't distinguish between the two very different charging methods, AC and DC, each of which have 2 levels adopted by the SAE. So when you write "L2", do you mean AC Level 2 or DC ...
