Sorry...I assumed all BMW i3 owners had the same domestic charger, the one coming as default with the car...but perhaps some cars come with other brands...

Good news..just resolved it myself. Plugged the charger in to the mains....got red error light on for the charger...pushed the "o" button and then the "i" button...suddenly the light went from red to green... :lol: :lol: :lol: Problem solved...car now charging without any issue. ...

Managed to connect after several iterations....worked with airplane mode on on my phone and unicarscan in automatic protocol.

Battery finally registered.

So I just installed the BMW OEM 12v battery on my i3. Car is working fine. The most tricky part was to dissengage and engage the main battery safety connector without damaging it. . Now thankfully, all interior light are off when the car is locked...seems the car starts behaving strangely when the battery level drops...shame I did not do the soc reading when the problems began.
