Re: The snappy throttle years

Would be nice if BMW would allow us to dial in the regen. ... I don't know whether this rectifier could output more power than it currently does or whether BMW has reduced the maximum regen power as some i3 drivers believe. ... I think there was a change. I test drove a 2014 Rex and the 2015 Rex ba...

Re: The snappy throttle years

BMW did lower the regen maximum because they had too many new drivers that didn't understand it, and tried to drive it like a typical ICE, creating whiplash when it went into full regen (higher than available today). Personally, it took me about two stops to figure it out, and I liked it. In the pr...

It's slower from 0-5
Wasn't aware of that change. My understanding was the i3 would stop powerflow if the wheels were raised off the ground as it was attributed to breaking the motor mounts. That said, they might have reduced power from 0-5 to help with tire wear issues?

Re: bmw i3 motor mount it broke ( 2016 and no REX)

The plastic mounts were breaking so there is/was a service campaign to replace the bolts with stronger ones. I don't recall reading of any plastic mount breaking, just the mount bolt. When the bolt breaks, the motor can thrash around causing serious damage, maybe even breaking the mount itself whic...

Re: Rubber trunk mat

Went with Weathertec nice tight fit, but very thin. Good for capturing spills, but don't think it will help for any real sound dampening.
Wish the Maxpider 3d made a matching cargo mat.

Re: Standard sized tires...

What are you talking about?!? There are plenty of tires this size from Schwinn, Specialized, Bontrager, Maxxis, Schwalbe, Kenda, and WTB! :D Interestingly, while looking over tire sizes to recommend, I saw there are a number of other tires produced with the same width as the BMW i3 tires, with a di...

Standard sized tires...

Pick a standard tire size for the i3 so we aren't stuck with one manufacturer. Would be nice if they were just a bit wider, more durable. Maybe go down to a 17 inch.

Re: Do they really honor the 8/100,000 mile battery warranty? In our case YES!!

Anyone know how BMW makes the determination that the battery merits replacement? I've seen a few different posts on the subject and it doesn't look like it's straight forward. I've seen references to the Max Kappa as well as the actual miles available at battery fully charged. There have also been ...

Re: Torn dust cover - shock absorber

I got the new parts today, the part number does not have an index. It seems to be a higher quality part than the originals but then again the current ones are nearly 6 years old. https://i.ibb.co/y64WLhc/IMG-5642.jpg Made in India. I hope they've improved the part. I think that last 3 on the part n...

Re: Metal shaving in cylinder 2

There is a company that does inspect the oil, I can't remember the name but it is a company that the diesel drivers use. I expect that BMW has already discarded any oil/evidence of the failure. It is strange that this "mystery metal" issue has just come up again in another post. I think the noise d...
