Re: steering Wheel became Hard to turn

Question: How would i know if this issue has already been addressed in this car? I still have a bit of warranty left and also the CPO warranty. What would you guys do to make sure I don't have a problem in the future? Export your profile to a USB stick (iDrive Settings > Profiles > Export) and then...

Re: Loss of Power in Real Life after 30 seconds

within a few minutes of really pushing the car, I noticed a pronounced decrease in accelerator response. That sounds like the motor or battery eventually approached its maximum operating temperature. I wonder which one. If the motor overheats first (I think the battery has active cooling) someone s...

Re: steering Wheel became Hard to turn

Steering effort abnormalities a known software issue for a long time, finally corrected by BMW TSB #B321119 late last year. The TSB was not publicized, you have to complain to a dealer to get them to load the latest operating system software under warranty. We have an 2018 I3S that had steering pro...

Re: Missing EPA numbers for Rex City/Highway

It looks like the EPA no longer lists separate City and Highway ratings for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles. https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/PowerSearch.do?action=noform&year1=2019&year2=2021&vtype=Plug-in+Hybrid&srchtyp=newAfv&pageno=1&sortBy=Comb&tabView=0&rowLimit=100 To get a rough idea of the ...

Re: Loss of Power in Real Life after 30 seconds

I don't think it can be done on a level road. Looks like it takes about 17 seconds to reach the 150 kph limiter. After that, the power backs off to about 40 kW (26.6 kWh/100km @ 150 kph). https://youtu.be/8eh2hnlKpR8?t=357 How steep of a slope does one need to drive up to use 125 kW for more than 30...

Water wheel charger?

According to the technical specifications for the 94Ah i3 (See: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/search/tag:136/category:11/attach-lang:2/) it can regenerate at a rate up to 50 kW! Instead of putting in a dinky 7.68 kW (240V 32A) "Level 2" charger you could put your car on a roller driv...

Re: Have smaller 6" screen anyway to upgrade to 9" screen?

Based on posts on other sites for other BMW cars it looks like there are 10.25" displays that use 'spi' instead of 'MMI' and have a resolution of 1280x480 instead of 1440x540. Also, the color depth (bits per pixel) might be 18 or 24. Good luck figuring out which settings go with which display. :( CI...

Re: Performance Mods? i3 M anyone?

I saw someone on reddit with 18” wheels but would like to know if it’s possible to drive the car without codes firing because of the 3% margin. Anyway around this to fit a wider 18” instead of doing wheel spacers on OEM wheels? The factory tires are all about 696mm (+/- 4mm) in diameter after you a...

I ordered some covers from AliExpress and look forward to their arrival, in a month or two. :(
oh? Do you have a link to that?

A search on AliExpress.com for something like "BMW i3 key case" will turn up a number of options.
