Re: How to display charging rate?

If you use a ChargePoint charger, the ChargePoint app will show a graph of charge rate (in kW) over time. It's not a great chart, with only three marked levels on the vertical scale, but you can probably read within a few kW.

My usage is much more spikey so higher tiers tended to hit me on certain days but not most days.
So a much larger portion of your charging was at the higher tier rate. That means your savings by switching to TOU would be even greater.

Re: My i3 caught on fire!

I wonder why the REX kicked on. Is it something that happens automatically after an oil change? Was it due for a maintenance run? Was the battery below 6.5%?

Re: Visual differences between 33kw & 42kw i3

Don't they give the battery capacity in Amp Hours like the BMW literature? That would be 60 Ah, 94 Ah, or 120 Ah. Did they make a 2018 model with a 120 Ah battery? Did they make a 2019 model with a 94 Ah battery? I thought that 2017 was the only model year where you could get two different sizes of ...

Re: Tou calculation help.

"I use about 1300-1500 kWh per month." So roughly 47/day "I do about 250- 350kWh worth of EV battery recharges weekly." So roughly 43/day. Non-TOD: High Season: 0.44 + 10*0.1620 + 10*0.2008 + 27*0.2398 = 0.44 + 1.620 + 2.008 + 6.4746 = $10.5426/day Low Season: 0.44 + 10*0.1358 + 10*0.1682 + 27*0.207...

Re: Delphi Charger Blinking Red Only on "Charging Fault"

It won’t be much help but I bought a ‘defective’ charger from eBay with the same symptom. I wanted one I cou.d take apart. After opening it, unplugging everything, and putting it back together a few times, THE FAULT WENT AWAY. It just powered up normally. To open it up I needed a “Security Star Torx...

Re: Road trip with DC charging - no REx

I'd make sure I had data on Level 2 chargers both before and after the target DCFC. As you get closer, the amount of the remaining charge will become more definite. If the car says that you won't make it, just spend an hour at a Level 2 charger on the way. Maybe you can line up one with a place to d...

Re: Level 3 charging past 80%

On my 2017 REx the charging rate seems to start dropping at around 95%. That's when I usually stop charging, especially when I'm at a charger where I pay by the minute!

Re: Road Tax Charge (UK)

My guess is that taxes on petrol pay for road maintenance. Since your car doesn't use petrol, they have to get the taxes out of you a different way.

Re: Hold state of charge, question

I think 10% would be better, but obviously BMW thought not ;) The firmware gives you a choice in 1/2% intervals. It's the California Air Resources Board that said "The APU (REx) must not be capable of switching on until the battery charge has been depleted". BMW interpreted 'depleted' as 6%. Note: ...
