Re: BMW Connected drive 3G to 4G?

So...to sum up: 2014 - 2017 i3 : 3G telematics that will stop working in early 2022 when AT&T pulls the plug on their 3G network. 2018 - 2020+ i3: 4G LTE telematics built-in. No problem for the foreseeable future. So, what's the plan for the older cars? I still haven't heard anything. Will there be ...

Re: Adding apps

I have a 2017 i3 and, like you, have found no way to add apps to my car. I've checked at https://connecteddrive.bmwusa.com/ and my car is subscribed to almost everything for another year, but if I try to visit the Connected Drive Store from my car, it says that it's not available or something like t...

Re: Where should I get my i3 alignments done?

Thanks for the responses. I think I'll ignore the dealership's advice about a yearly alignment and have it done when it pulls or the tires wear unevenly, just like every other car I've ever owned.

Where should I get my i3 alignments done?

I took my 2017 i3 into the dealership for its last free REx oil change a couple months ago and my local BMW dealership, which seems to know the i3 pretty well, strongly suggested that I get an alignment once per year. Based on what I've read here, it sounds like they were being honest with me on tha...

Re: Ultrafast Public Charging for i3

The company is called "Electric Fish": https://www.electricfish.co/ I'm not saying with certainty that they're not legitimate, but the initial post above was pretty unprofessional, didn't list the company name, didn't link to the company web site, and was the only post by the user to this forum. All...

Re: What does your "miles to empty" show when full?

I just bought a 2017 REX model a couple of weeks ago. My range will show 141 miles when full (comfort mode). I'm surprised it is much more than the 114 advertised. I realize this is based on driving habits, so I'm curious what everyone else shows for range after a "fill up". Wow. I have a 2017 REx ...

Re: Has anyone tried the 'electrified' app'?

I installed Electrified on my OnePlus 7T and it refused to communicate with my Veepeak OBDCheck BLE. Same phone/Veepeak combination works with Bimmercode/Bimmerlink, so pretty sure that this is an issue with the app.

Re: enhanced bluetooth

I tried this on my 2017 i3 with Bimmercode, and most of the parameters listed don't exist on my car, so these instructions probably only work on 2018 and later models.

Re: intermittent (soft) knock & intermittent (one time so far) labored steering

I have no idea about your knock issue, so I won't cluelessly speculate about it. As for your other problem, I also experienced the heavy steering effort issue, exactly once in the four months I've owned my 2017 i3. It happened right after I started the car one time. After parking, shutting down, and...

Re: New owner long distance charging concerns

The i3's batteries can charge at a maximum of 50Kw/hr on a CCS unit, but it slows down as the charge gets higher, and will also be slower when the batteries are warm and more if they're hot. To fully recharge you 94Kwhr battery will take closer to 2-hours. Some of them seem to charge for both the p...
