Re: A/C Fan Speed issue on Auto

I’m a range wh#re, so I typically drive in ECO+. Although when it’s hot (80 is hot in WA) I’ll use ECO, which is when I noticed this happening. I’ll check my iDrive settings today for that option. Might also test in comfort to see if AC behaves the same way.

Re: A/C Fan Speed issue on Auto

Art-
Is this decoupling done through coding? I coded a few things with BimmerCode, but this was not one of them. Is there a benefit to decoupling them?

It was working awesome up to a few days ago. Very odd

A/C Fan Speed issue on Auto

On my 2017 REx I noticed the following last week. When driving in Comfort or Eco and A/C in Auto the car starts off a very nice flow of cool air. Typically I’ll have the fan speed set to 2 or 3. After a few mins the volume shuts way back (even though fan speed is 2 or 3) to almost no air volume at a...

Re: Maximum charge rate?

With such small battery packs (compared to Tesla) our little city dwelling grocery getters can’t handle heavy kW. Time will tell what the right combo or kW charge rate and battery pack size is the best combo. BMW engineering most likely did long term testing on quicker DC charging and realized it cr...

Re: Extended Warranty

It’s been my experience that 2017+ model years have been far more reliable (and useful), as BMW has worked out most of the early production kinks. Both my i3s were CPOs, and considered an extended warranty also, but could not justify the cost. Hendrick has a pretty appealing 84-mo in house warranty,...

Re: Charging after changing the 12V battery

When you replaced the 12V was it FULLY charged? That seems to be the biggest issue. I’d let the car sit overnight on a L2 charge, see if the issues sort out. Next step is to pull that 12V out and put an overnight charge on it. You should also be prepared with BimmerLink and and OBD II scanner. That ...

Re: Buying an i3 for a high school car??

If I were in your shoes I’d avoid 2014-2016 BMW i3 as they are lacking on range, plastic motor mounts break (2014-2015) and exploding AC compressor. 2017 model is very capable, and they worked out most of the early production bugs. Plus their larger battery packs seem to hold up longer especially wi...

Re: Test Drove 2016 BEV w/ 34k miles. Battery Check?

I know the 2016’s price is very appealing to you, but I would avoid the 2014-2016 model years like Art said. The 60aH models seem to take a harder hit long term on range. BMW appears to of ironed out most of the issues by 2017. If you plan on doing any long trips, a REx version is suggested. Remembe...
