Re: Battery discharging while Stationary

I have noticed that the high-voltage system remains on for at least 30 minutes after I unlock the doors of our 2014 i3. During that time, the 12 V battery is almost always being charged because the 12 V system voltage is ~14.3 V. Especially after having driven recently, I have seen the DC-DC conver...

Re: Battery discharging while Stationary

But I understand that it maintains its full charge by being topped up from the HV and this happens when any of the doors or front or back hatches are opened. Nope. Just like an ICE car, it is just draining the 12v when you open the door and the interior lights come on. If you close the door(s) or l...

Re: Set a maximum charge limit

So my questions to you are: 1. What do you find personally insulting if somebody wants to limit their charging to 80%? 2. What data do you have to be so certain the 80% recommendations are wrong and the "always be charging" mentality has no consequences, even if minimal? Hopefully more than a meme ...

Re: Lost Socket Nut in Front Bay

Bummer. I had first tried aggressive driving maneuvers too to no avail. Was pretty annoyed to have to go through all this trouble. I blame the location of the upper battery bracket bolt. It's almost like they want you to lose your equipment loosening that bolt. Perhaps that is why the procedure is ...

Re: Set a maximum charge limit

That wasn't his question, and you're wrong. That is true about his question but I foresaw where he was going with it. If I am wrong, what is it I am wrong about? Seriously. On a 2017, the battery capacity is rated at 33kwh Of that, BMW advertised that only 27.2 is "useable". That's about 82% of the...

Re: Bimmerlink 12v Battery Registration

ah, interesting. iOS version is pay first before download So, if it is free to download why not do that and see what it allows you to do? I would think the worst that could happen is you attempt to Register the battery and it tells you that you have to pay first. edited to add: Looking at the Review...

Re: Bimmerlink 12v Battery Registration

Can anybody confirm whether the battery registration feature of Bimmerlink is included in the free version or whether I would have to buy the full version for $41.99? $41.99? I thought it was $31.99. (just checked and yes it seems to be $31.99) Anyways there is no "free version" of BIMMER LINK . Yo...

Re: Set a maximum charge limit

Not this again. This is not a Tesla. There is a Battery Management System that prevents us from "fully" charging or discharging the battery. About 10% of the capacity is held back as a buffer for this.

Re: Sulfur smell when charging

So.... what was the "fix"?
Did you install a new battery?
I don't see that listed anywhere. All I see is that you removed the old one and then cleaned the posts.
