Re: Importing EU i3 to US

So if you keep it here longer and you get caught, e.g. if you get stopped by police, do you just get a fine? What if you want to take the car back to Europe at some point - do they check on the way out? The "fine" is they seize the car and have it destroyed. At your expense. I can't answer any of y...

Re: Importing EU i3 to US

Oddly enough there is a way around this that I am familiar with and have known others to do it. Think about Canada for a moment. Another Country. Like any other European Country. But you can drive across the border easier. With a Canadian car registered in Canada to a Canadian with Canadian plates. ...

Re: I had a 3G to 4G TCU upgrade to prove a point.

This is clearly not a problem specific to i3, is it? How many other BMW models are impacted, does anyone know? Every other BMW model from at least 2014-2016 using 3G is also affected. They may be dealing with other models differently in terms of offering an easy or no cost upgrade path. The TCU box...

Re: I had a 3G to 4G TCU upgrade to prove a point.

I wonder if the BMW Dealer has to do anything 'special' in registering the modem with BMW, other than programming it to the car with ISTA+?? Does ISTA programming pass on/register the new phone/ID number to the BMW Connected Drive server? Or is there some extra registration step that must be done b...

Re: Outside temp sensor displaying -40 degrees

What is the actual temperature outside?

What is the voltage reading on your 12v battery? (preferably taken after interior lights have timed out after opening door etc)

Re: Early charging termination.

Before suggesting you change the breaker I should have asked: How long has this setup been working fine in the past? How many amps is the rating of the breaker that is tripping? Do you know what kind of outlet is being used and what the rating is? Have you been able to determine if the L2 plug that ...

2015 Rex. Recently car stops charging after plugging in - with the circuit breaker flipping. It charges for what now seems a random amount of time and then stops.
If this was me, the first thing I would do is replace the circuit breaker. Sometimes they go bad.

Re: Battery capacity issue

Hello I have just bought a second hand 2016 reg Rex and I am new to EV's. Can I ask your views on the Batt kapa max reading on my car which is currently showing 29.2 KWh. I am confused as I thought the usable capacity is 27.2. Is it possible that the max shown would have been 33 when it was new? My...

Re: Connected Services Ending - Offical

So i haven't seen an email, and I have a 2016 - do we know when the cutoff for this 3G issue is? (by that I mean which models/build dates) I believe that BMW started putting 4G LTE in i3's in 2018. 2017 and older - 3G. And I believe that BMW started putting 4G LTE in i3's in 2017 model year. 2016 a...

Re: Drivetrain malfunction + sudden 22% drop in GOM

Also- your car already has 4G so there will be no interruption in your Connected Services unless you let them expire. You can always renew for $50 if they do expire. That would be great, but I’m not getting that information. The dealer service told me that they don’t know anything; it’s up to BMW a...
