Re: i3 HV Battery Upgrade

Before I bought my i3 I thought “man, the Rex is awesome and is perfect for this kind of use” and after I bought my Rex-i3 I’m like “man, that Rex is dumb and I hate it because I’m constantly worried about whether I run it often enough to keep it from breaking and I really wish I could remove it.” Y...

Re: 2014 i3 radio question

To close this out, it was me being dumb. It just wasn’t obvious to me that the Preset page, when there are no presets yet, is an empty list. *sigh* But yes, once I added some presets it all became obvious again.

Re: Optional ConnectedDrive services no longer available in store

ATT extended 3G’s life until Feb 2022:

I’m still hoping for a low-cost upgrade to the telematics box. They can’t just let basic services top working, I wouldn’t think.

Re: i3 HV Battery Upgrade

I would definitely do this. Which one, I’m not sure. My car is a 2014 with 62k on it that I bought used a few months ago. I got it pretty cheap, but it wasn’t well taken care of and was a low option model. It was dealer serviced and taken care of in that respect, and the kappa is still very good on ...

Re: 2014 i3 radio question

I need to test this, but I think I know what it is. I think it’s that I conflated the button presets with the “Presets” on the screen. I think I thought that setting buttons should ALSO show up in the Presets list on the screen, but they don’t and because I’ve reset everything due to coding (and the...

2014 i3 radio question

Bear with me for what might sound like a strange question, but it has to do with FM radio presets. Background: I own a 2011 328i wagon with iDrive. I could swear that in that car I could get a screen in the radio where my presets were shown to me in a list I could select from using iDrive. Yes, I kn...

Re: BMW Connected drive 3G to 4G?

Do we know for sure that the i3 only works on ATT networks? Just noticed Verizon announced they are going to leave 3G working for a while longer again. They had tried to sunset it a couple years ago, then extended it to about now, and recently extended it again. Wondering if ATT might end up doing t...

Re: Anyone had success ordering the 10.25" screen from Ali Express (or anywhere) recently?

Be careful price shopping on AliExpress. Always look at the shipping cost *and* the shipping type. The “china post” type options can take anywhere from three to sometimes TEN weeks. I ordered mine for only a few bucks more than the cheaper options with a FedEx delivery option that took like 7 days n...

Re: BMW Connected drive 3G to 4G?

Interesting. Anyone know if upgrading the Telematics box *requires* dealer programming? I suppose the smart thing to do is hold tight and see what BMW offers. My 2014 takes 60-90 seconds to issue commands. I’ve only had the car a couple months, but it has 60k on it. It only came with one key fob, so...
