Re: Corrosion - BMW i3

That Ocean spray salt probably explains the rusting. "The ocean air also contains salt and minerals. In fact, the ocean contains over 70 mineral nutrients and trace elements (this is one reason why swimming in the ocean is considered therapeutic to the body – so many minerals)." https://beachlifeex...

Re: Corrosion - BMW i3

Just would like to get some context here - in what kind of climate environments you guys are living? I live about 200m from the ocean in a hot and humid climate. The strong breeze brings a steady spray of droplets that coats everything and gets everywhere. A piece of bare metal will start to rust i...

Quite a bit of information in that post Art. Thanks for this.

I'd also like to add to what you have said to check the health of the main battery before you purchase this or any electric powered car.

My 2017 has 22,000 miles.

Re: Dashcam - mount under license plate?

Last year I've bought a BlackVue DR590-1CH and was able to stick it on the window just behind the rear view mirror. I was able to completely hide the cabling behind the edge of the headliner, through the bottom of the dashboard to plug into the 12V socket under the dashboard. Sounds like a better i...

Re: Lost Socket Nut in Front Bay

I just finished a repair on my Flex and lost a screw in the door, which curves down and wraps under the frame, i.e. it tapers into an inaccessible sheet metal taco. After a week of driving I opened a tiny drain port at the bottom of the door. Lo and behold there was my screw, but the hole was so sm...

Re: Loads of Pictures.... incl Rex

While Exploring BIMMERCODE, there seems to be an option for LEFT and RIGHT tanks. This makes me think the European model has 2 reserve tanks. I wonder if there is an aftermarket vendor for a second tank? That is very likely a coding leftover from the ICE cars from BMW. No second tanks in Euro i3. Y...

Re: Which versions of the AC compressor have people had failures with?

The replacement that I have installed over the weekend was from them, not the original one from Hannon Systems. Maybe the Hannon Systems AC compressors were the ones (early years) that had the failures, possibly a quality control in manufacturing issue, with BMW eventually going to Mahle Behr for a...
