Re: BMW i3 – One of the Most Underrated Cars

I think i3 sales eventually exceeded BMWs original plans. As mentioned above manufacturing process was not suitable for very large volume production. I think what happened was that the BEV market expanded even further than BMW (or anyone else, for that matter) ever expected at much higher pace. Tesl...

Re: 94Ah REX - HOLD STATE OF CHARGE Issue

It could take a minute or so, not 10 minutes. If you are driving on a highway you might not hear the engine. Did you try slower speeds? Does the gas gauge becomes active (if REX is off it is grayed out). Another thin that crossed my mind, you mention the state of charge was 70% for 10 minutes. If yo...

Re: A/C Compressor Failure

This is very useful to know. What is covered under an emission warranty is a bit ambiguous. In PZEV states the REX models in particular have a wide range of items covered under emissions warranty.

Anyway the latest i3, and iX3, manual has changed the advice to only charge to 80%. Manual dated FEB 22.
I assume you mean latest i4? The i3 doesn't have a setting to limit to 80%.

Re: BMW i3 was ahead of its time AGAIN!

It is definitely an impressive car, but it is not their best effort. It doesn't have any advancements or major contribution to the status quo. It was OK if it was released 5 years ago. Now it feels outdated before even the first units ship to customers.

Re: Charging to 80% capacity

Keep in mind that for BMW i4 97.1% of the battery is usable. For i3 it is about 90%. The i3 battery is also high cobalt, which helps with longevity. Gen 5 models use lower cobalt battery chemistry. I think BMWs idea was that people will use departure time charging most of the time, so 10% buffer is ...

The Deka also lacks lights on visor mirrors. Upper trims have lighted visors.

Re: i3 interior Design Research

What makes this interior special for i3 owners? Quality of materials, fit and finish or maybe design layout? The main design feature is that the A pillars are moved forward (allowed by EV architecture), in combination with boxy shape and no center console, there is a lot of space around the front o...
