Re: Anybody have an brake-related accident in an i3?

I think it is a good idea to implement a brake clean up cycle for EVs with strong regeneration (somehow similar to REX maintenance cycle). The car should detect brakes have not been used for a few weeks and disables regeneration for a few braking cycles to clean up the rotors. I had a relatively har...

Re: 2019 range extender - do they make sense for long journeys ?

The coding is for US cars only. European cars are already “coded” by BMW. It is the option to hold state of charge which is disabled in US cars. The 550 mile trip is definitely doable, but it takes an hour or two longer than an ICE car.

Re: Ran the REX for the first time....

I believe if you drive in cold/warm weather or anything other than flat ground the coding is necessary as a safety measure. It helps with engine longevity as well.

Re: Replaced Deka Silver trim with Dark Oak Wood Trim

Looks great. My first i3 had Deka silver trim. I liked it, but never loved it. My current has the dark oak wood and I LOVE it. Great job! Congrats! Thanks! I know the light wood is more popular, but I think the dark oak fits the Deka World better and probably is more durable as well. Also for some ...

Re: Replaced Deka Silver trim with Dark Oak Wood Trim

agzand, From which company did you order the wood trim pieces? I am thinking about ordering the same oak trim pieces for my 2017 i3 Rex. I tried ordering thru a BMW dealer, but they said BMW NA does not provide this part anymore. I found a seller in Europe on ebay. I have the link in my youtube vid...

Re: Road Trip Experience

I really do appreciate all the responses and ideas. I really like the i3 but I finally concluded that it was not the car for me right now. If I had 2 cars, I would absolutely purchase it. I opted for the Toyota RAV4 Prime which gives me plenty of everyday EV driving and no range anxiety on long tri...

Replaced Deka Silver trim with Dark Oak Wood Trim

I just replaced the silver trim on my 2018 Deka World i3REX with dark oak wood trim. Looks better in my opinion. The wood trim was the only thing that bothered me about buying the Deka World. I have documented the process in this video (sorry for the long video, didn't have time to cut it any shorte...

Re: Road Trip Experience

If you had hold state of charge enabled you could have stopped at every other rest stop. If you run out of gas you can drive another 10-20 miles with no fear of being stranded. My other car is Honda Clarity PHEV and it is very comfortable as a long distance cruiser. You get 40-50 miles of EV range p...

Re: Roof Racks

Have people had any issue with carbon roof delaminating due to suction cups? I understand this is the only option for i3, but I am worried about damaging the roof.

Re: Intermittent non-charging issue

Eitherway it could be the low voltage issue. If voltage is too low it could happen at any charge level. Of course this is just one explanation and there could be other issues.
