Re: 12v system reaching 15.4v

As I understand it, BMW specifically says not to try to charge the 12vdc battery unless you follow a very specific procedure. It may be that you toasted some controller. Keep in mind that the 12vdc battery in the car is quite small, and to provide that amount of current, you'd have to have the DC-DC...

Re: Question about max. charging power/current

TO keep the selling price down, lots of markets made the fast charging module optional. This is not to be confused with the DC charging. There are two modules in the USA that maximize the charging to 7.4Kw. Others will only have half of that. There are a few markets that support 3-phase charging, an...

Re: NON OEM wheels & tires (wider)

Nobody around here stocks i3s tyres. We have to order them from Germany. That may sound like a pain, but it's shorter distance than across the US, and much further than from Germany. STill, in air freight across the pond, it's still only a day. Much longer by boat. In your case, even a freight trai...

Re: Tire pressure sticker missing?

Note that the tire pressure label is NOT on the driver's door, it's on the rear door on that side.

Re: Electric Power Engineers , a Solar PV L2 Question

There are some very strict rules about how things like a solar array can feed back to the grid. First, the inverter would need to meet some specs for cleanliness (cheaper, simulated sine-wave ones would create problems), and then, there must be a method to synchronize the phasing and frequency. Then...

Re: Comfort Access - car hesitates

WHen the fob is near the car, it maintains a link with the car and probably would decrease its life. The battery probably will last longer if you don't leave it in the car. Yes, the dealer will change the fob battery during the warranty period, at least mine will. It's not hard to do yourself, though.

Re: i3 Remote

The US is also pushing the Connected App, and it's a problem for me. I have both an iPad and an iPhone...it works fine on my iPhone, but every time I start the iRemote on my iPad, it asks me to download the Connected Drive app...but, that iPad does not have cellular, and when I try, it says it is no...

Re: Tire pressure sticker missing?

I picked up my first BMW in Munich, and it had the triangle and first aid kit. The guy doing the new car delivery spiel told me to take them out and carry them home in my luggage if I wanted them, or they'd disappear. Those two things are required in Germany, and should be in all cars, IMHO.

Re: Tire pressure and miles per Kwh

FWIW, the tires do heat up as driven, so you'll need relative pressures unless you let things cool back off to ambient in between runs.

The roads where I live are tough with the stock pressure...adding 10 more pounds wouldn't be worth it to me.

Re: NON OEM wheels & tires (wider)

If I ran the numbers properly, that wheel/tire combination would be about 1.1" smaller in diameter, which is about 4% off of the stock combination in circumference...that would mean your speedometer and odometer would be off by 4% on top of the speedometer's approximately 2mph buffer it builds in. Y...
