Re: How does highway driving impact your range?

If you guys end up in an i3, seriously consider the DC fast charge option. On the East Coast, the SAE Combo infrastructure should be expanding greatly in the coming year and in 2016. I've been told that that most of the 2014 i3's in my area came equipped with the DC charging option. However, it's n...

Re: UK EVSE Install

Where about is the meter? I've got a ROLEC and can't see one. I thought it was going to be under the clear bit a the top. Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough as I don't have my car yet. Picking it up Tuesday woo hoo. Also installed my MES. Very good service. I suppose a newish house, a free 32A ...

Re: Home Charging costs

I've never understood how those electric showers became available and so popular in the UK. Nor me. It's not like sticking a shower in a bath means a long pipe run from the existing pipes. It's not cheaper to stick a 40Amp circuit, shower unit and separate cold feed than it is to stick in a splitte...

Re: Heated windscreen washers?

I was looking at Ampera's the other day - they seem to be doing ok - I guess having an engine isn't that bad after all. Seems to give 2nd hand buyers a bit o confidence that even if the battery range drops a bit they'll still be able to get from A to B. It will be interesting to compare the residual...

Re: Home Charging costs

Its quite common in the UK to have 10kW electric showers. My latest house has one. 40A circuit breakers at 240V. As peak rate elecricity is about 12-16p/kWh & natural gas is only 4p I've had a bath shower splitter installed so i can use hot water in the tank I've already paid to heat. Before that a ...

Re: Heated windscreen washers?

Nowtta, you raise a good point there, which I hadn't until now considered, hopefully it will be a standard feature on all vehicles, it should certainly have been included in a 'Winter pack' which is now standard for 2015 builds. Hopefully I'm in/on the same boat as you ! I have elected to wait unti...

Re: Heated windscreen washers?

My last job was 150 but only down on a Monday back Friday. Hence why a rex. Just in the range but plenty of gas stations. Thankfully the trains are pretty good so i don't drive every day. Trouble is when i get the i3 I'm thinking do i pay £19 for a train ticket and have a sleep or use the i3 and pay...

Heated windscreen washers?

Does the i3 have them? I've ordered the winter pack, but don't recall any heated jets mentioned. Likewise it's not mentioned on the standard UK spec I just looked up. My current ICE is the first car I've had in a while that doesn't have them and temps were -2C / 28F this morning . On my 60 mile driv...

Re: Anyone who is from Nissan Leaf?

Think of the Leaf v i3 as like comparing Nissan Versa v BMW 320i. You wouldn't. Also the i3 is made from carbon fibre and aluminium instead of steel. It has a smaller trunk than the 320i but a bigger passenger space. Or at least one that feels bigger as there's no transmmission tunnel in the way and...

Re: Choice between DC rapid charge or AC fast charge

I'm making sure EV owners get this right, so for the record... Charging rate is measured in kW (small k capital W) Charge amount is measures in kWh. If it were fuel then kWh is your litres or gallons and kW is how long it takes to fill the tank i.e the pump speed. On an i3 AC max charge rate is 7.2k...
