Re: JESLA -vs- BMW i3 portable charge cable

Any plans to do type 2 mennekes? Or ChaDeMo to Type 2 CCS? Pity that the Chademo to Type 2 adapter from Tesla uses it's own signalling rather than homeplug green, a fairly simple physical adapter for Tesla Type 2 to CCS would have been great. Personally I've replaced the supply side of the the BMW p...

Where can I buy this service manual?
Google BMW i3 service manual... some helpful souls may have listed a link to the service manual sans payment.

Re: Who knew about the folding wing mirrors?

"unfolded automatically" ?!? How did you do that? Mine only unfold if I speed up to 40 km/h. At least on the european i3s unlocking the car either by pressing the button on the key or (if you have comfort access) just grabbing the door handles also unfolds the mirrors. To fold the mirrors and lock ...

Re: Kent to South of France in i3 REx - am i mad?

I was under the impression that the CCS combo charger is the agreed standard for all of Europe. It is. For the car side :) The french got pissed because the german mennekes connector got chosen as the standard type 2 connector over their design. Then got their connector added to the standard as an ...

Re: Kent to South of France in i3 REx - am i mad?

You need a Type 3 to Type 2 cable if you want to charge on a public charger in France. Could you elaborate, please? And is there such an adaptor? France uses an entirely different socket than every other country in Europe for EV charging: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2...

Re: Kent to South of France in i3 REx - am i mad?

You need a Type 3 to Type 2 cable if you want to charge on a public charger in France. I'll be doing Dublin to Berlin in my REx around June. My plan for France is to charge at Folkestone, head for the Belgian border (with it's welcoming Type 2 chargers) and avoid spending €300 on a cable that is onl...

Re: DC CCS in Europe

Some of the newer eCars Ireland DC locations use Siemens ChaDeMo|CCS|AC chargers. There's a map here of the CCS equipped locations: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/u/0/viewer?hl=en&mid=zVDgdgMW7RMA.kduTOkI5y3ts Another 25 CCS equipped rapid charger locations are due this year. Mainly a corridor up...

Re: Tire blowout in the first 48 hours of ownership.

BMW OEM winter tires and wheels on the i3 from the factory. The issue with the summer wheels contacting the brake calipers was that roadside assistance fitted the rear wheels to the front.

The whole set are being sent back to bridgestone for analysis.

Tire blowout in the first 48 hours of ownership.

So... two days of ownership and my i3 is on a flatbed back to the dealership. My passenger rear Blizzak had a blowout. A large crack developed on the inner sidewall of the tire. I cannot recall any impact or pothole that may have caused that kind of damage. The recovery driver tried to fit my summer...

Need a little extra range?

http://www.victronenergy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Boot.jpg Ronan, one of my fellow i3 owners here in Dublin had some issues reaching his place in the country with the drop in range over the winter. There are now CCS rapid chargers on his route but unfortunately he didn't spec the DC Fast...
