Re: Why 3,999 mm?

Why is the length of the i3 exactly 3,999 mm? Sounds suspicious. Is it arbitrarily just short of 4 meters? Or does that qualify it for some tax break or parking preference or motorway/highway/autobahn privileges or some such? We know BMW went to great lengths to hobble the REX's gasoline range in t...

Re: What OS is the i3 running?

Yep, It essentially runs a forked version of redhat/fedora on an x86 Intel Automotive Platform. Complete with RPM package management (your firmware updates are delivered as RPMs) There are a lot of discrete embedded systems in the car as well, from companies like continental automotive. Some of thos...

Re: Anyone who is from Nissan Leaf?

I'm coming from a european perspective. The main thing I miss from the leaf is the steering wheel heater. Allowed me to allow the cabin temperature get a lot lower without discomfort, and have the windows rolled down in lower temps too. The Chademo rapid chargers are still a little more common here ...

Re: Dash Cam Recommendations?

I personally like those features. I'm not sure about your model camera but you may be able to turn off parking mode so it won't record when the car isn't moving. My real problem is that like most dashcams there is no parking mode. And therefore no motion activated recording. Which means that if the...

Re: Dash Cam Recommendations?

I got my new Marcus4 in the mail. Awesome quality images from it, particularly at night. I'm not happy with the idea of wiring it into the 12v if I'm going to end up with the entire sd card overwritten with footage of the car park everytime I plug in to charge or start preconditioning. Anyone have a...

Re: Dash Cam Recommendations?

For i3's with front-facing cameras and disc drives, some clever person needs to hack the system so that X hours of front camera video could be stored on the disc drive for later retrieval, if desired. The hardware is simply not there to do it. The Intel automotive platform in the car doesn't have t...

Re: Dash Cam Recommendations?

My car is being delivered in 2 weeks so it was time to look for a new dashcam to replace the DR32 from my old vehicle.
I just placed an order for the VicoVation Marcus 4:

I'm particularly looking forward to using the 2560x1080 mode.

Re: UK Order v Delivery Dates

My order just went to status 5055. Delivery expected in January! Just got a charger installed in my apartment block space. Went for a ZCW modular 32A single-phase with a Type 2 socket. Government funded 16A charger is going in to my place in the country first/second week of January. No option over h...

Re: Universal snap-in adapter for all current Apple iPhones

Here in europe this option is sold as "Enhanced Bluetooth Phone Prep" and includes the cradle, an additional antenna (with associated wiring) and (depending on country) BMW apps support in connecteddrive. By default it also enables BMW Office applications... email, calendar etc... though these only ...

Re: Autosock

I asked a couple of manufacturers and got no response.

Made the choice to go with a spare set of alloys and winter tires instead.
