Range reduction in cold weather

In the 4+ years I've had my i3 Rex, I seemed to hear about how good the battery management system is on the i3, yet according to this recent article the i3 was the worst of the 5 tested vehicles which were mostly 2018 models. https://www.powerelectronics.com/automotive/frigid-temperatures-cut-electr...

Re: DIY Oil Change

I have a 2014 Rex with 60000+ miles so my free oil changes are over. I've searched the list and found some postings on DIY oil changing. I don't think it would be very difficult, just would need to get the right oil and filter. The other thing is that my display shows that this was due in June. How ...

Re: Press Release on new Bridgestones for the i3

At around 50,000 miles the rear tires on my '14 Rex were more than ready for replacement. Unfortunately at the time, Costco could not get the fronts as well so I had them just do the rears. The new tires on the rear and the old tires on the front caused the DSC to kick in on curves where it had neve...

Re: How Many Miles Do the Tires Last?

An odd thing was that I noticed the i3 handles differently now, more jittery than with all four used tires. Also the Dynamic stability control is kicking on in places along my commute where I had never seen it before, in fact I cannot recall ever seeing that DSC light come on ever. I was finally ab...

Re: How Many Miles Do the Tires Last?

Thanks! See Tires! . . . I've posted pictures of all my original 19" tires on my 2014 Rex with 43000 miles. . . . The driver side tire looks nearly bald yet I see you live in California. I thought they did annual safety inspections so I'm wondering how you got them to pass before? Understand, I liv...

Re: How Many Miles Do the Tires Last?

See Tires! Don't know if the images will work but I've posted pictures of all my original 19" tires on my 2014 Rex with 43000 miles. I was going to replace all of them even though the fronts had some miles left on them but I couldn't get the front replacement tires yet. So I only ended up replacing...

Re: Recall letter arrived

Me too, I'm finding it difficult to time lifting off the accelerator to come to a complete stop in traffic. I have to use the brake more. Maybe BMW decided that they were not making enough money on brakes :o More to the point, I just received my gas line recall notice, but had also received a softw...

Re: Air Condition Does Not Always Blow Cool Air, Even in Com

This is interesting. I've noticed a couple of times in the last few days when I hit the A/C button to turn it off (but just keep the fan running) that the air does seem to be colder than expected. I have the latest software update, etc. Does anyone know what is being done to fix this besides updatin...

Re: Cruise Control

I just press in and hold the top button on the left side of the steering wheel which normally adjusts the following distance. I think you can press the bottom one as well for this. Not sure where you are so your steering wheel may be different from mine. It's good to put your general location in you...

Re: Cruise Control

This can be common when driving into the sun and the angle is low. The ACC uses a camera and it can be blinded so it disengages. My commute is East in the morning when the sun is coming up and West in the evening when the sun is going down. At certain times of the year when the angles are just right...
