Re: Apple CarPlay

When I ordered my car (Nov. 2017) in Sydney, the Apple CarPlay option was $623 inc GST tax. I decided that was poor value and declined. The salesman said he didn’t blame me, ‘cos you can load it yourself for free! If it can be done, I will and report back to the forum. Car play is $500 in NZ includ...

Re: My first 6 weeks....

And frankly the oil companies don't care that much either, that electricity that you are filling your car up instead of gas likely came from their natural gas operations anyways and that is why more difficult to export than the oil you were going to use otherwise. Yeah, but I think ultimately big o...

Re: BMW Extended Warranty Cost

I buy used cars and keep them for 5 to 7 years. I bought a used 2014 REX i3 in September. I bought it because I thought it would be a better car than a Nissan Leaf. Now I'm not so sure. Did I make a mistake? I usually, but not always, buy used cars and keep them more than 15 years unless they becom...

Re: BMW Extended Warranty Cost

$4700 is a hell of a lot of money for 3 year extended warranty. You would have to be very unlucky having to spend this kind of money over 3 years. How does it work out $$ owning a car for five years or leasing over 5 years

Re: How much more are these going to depreciate?

If I purchase an i3s with rex engine loaded it's $86956nz and a 225xe loaded $73043nz. I'm thinking of replacing my 225xe middle of next year. I'm leaning towards purchasing a new 225xe facelift as the i3 depreciation and higher price is looking at not being worth the extra money to purchase. I'm ho...

Re: True power consumption

Interesting as I'm running a BMW 225xe with a 30k battery milage average and not 41k as per BMW says. The car has travel 20,000k and 14,000k of the 20,000k is on battery. I'm very happy with the battery milage. I would have though your i3 would have had a lower use of your petrol engine. You must no...

Re: How much more are these going to depreciate?

Both our electric BMWs (i3 REx and 225xe) save us around £900 per year in fuel costs. That in itself is a worthwhile benefit. Almost 3 years in, I still love our i3 and the 225xe Tourer (18 months old) is a lovely, luxurious vehicle. We took the Tourer all the way down to Northern Italy this year. ...

Re: The Honeymoon is Over - Lease Near An End - BEWARE!

To save money buying an EV you need to be traveling high milage. Myself I cannot justify a full EV so a BMWe is the vehicle for me. I've traveled 19,000k and 13,000k of this 19k was battery running. I've only had to buy petrol for 6k so the cost is minimal and to me it's not worth the extra money I ...

Re: Buying an i3 for a teenager

I really think something is wrong in society, when a parent buys a relatively new bimmer, even base model at 18-20k for a 16 year old. Pretty spoiled. I'm working class though, but if I had the money, I still wouldn't commit such gluttony on my children. If they want an i3, work for it. Otherwise, ...

Re: Buying an i3 for a teenager

 My daughter has already turned 16 and I am letting her drive my 1993 Volvo 240 since it is relatively slow, built like a tank, a quality car if not one of the best built cars ever made, and safe. I'm turning 41. I recently purchased a fully loaded BMW 2016 Tera BEV in Fluid Black w/ about 17...
