Re: Inside or Outside?

I'd had that thought too. Same reason why anyone using the standard 3 pin charger should be wary about using a wound up extension reel even if it is nominally rated adequately. The facility on the top of the Rolec is obviously designed for storage when not in use. My current plan (no pun intended :l...

Re: Inside or Outside?

Re: Climate Cover $600 lessons learned

Learned this lesson myself a long while ago. I keep two halves of a new car wash sponge with small slits made in them and put a boxing glove on the end of each arm whenever I'm doing anything with the blades off. At least it might stop the impact.

Re: Ordering this week - Question about Comfort Access

I couldn't find the justification for the money being asked. My 4x4 has it but as you've still got to lock the car (which is 50% of the time), I find I've always got the key in a handy location to be blipping anyway. I just prefer to know where my key is. The one big advantage I've found from comfor...

Re: 12v chargers

The 12vdc battery is more motorcycle sized and is 'normal' lead acid (might be AGM, but still lead acid based). Any idea off hand what the spec of the battery is in Ah? I was trying to figure that out yesterday to assess how much power it could supply and for how long to run auxiliary bits and piec...

Re: 12v chargers

Wild stab in the dark but BMW is usually canbus controlled and switches them off after a defined time. Given that it's an electric vehicle I would assume that this is all the more important to restrict power drain when locked. You may therefore find you have no power to any of them. Sure an existing...

Re: Inside or Outside?

Don't think cost is going to vary. I've asked for an isolation switch anyway and everything is very close at hand so no more wiring really. Like the idea of having some form of access to put it through. That's got me thinking if I could bore a circular hole large enough to get the charger handle out...

Re: Electricity Supplier and tariff in UK

I had the smart meter originally so at least I could get a hold on where consumption was occurring and when. It was free too, so a no brainer. Having sorted the loading and got some meaningful MI out of it, you are right, it's of little use and I wouldn't worry about it going. I was just astonished ...

Electricity Supplier and tariff in UK

Just now running the gauntlet of sorting out supply arrangements. I'm currently with Swalec/SSE and they installed a Smart meter last year. Brilliant I thought, I can see the smart meter cycling through Rate 1 / Rate 2 / Rate 3 although as I am on a standard tariff at present, only Rate 1 is recordi...

Inside or Outside?

So, I have a dilemma. The car is going to spend half of its time outside and half inside. I have the option of whether the tethered charger goes inside or outside too. So half the time I will either have the charger inside with the cable coming out under the garage door (suitably protected of course...
