Re: Grinding/Squealing Noise

As said, usually a small stone caught between the guard and the disc. They can clatter around if loose but usually jump out eventually. If they get jammed they squeal as you described. If it keeps squealing try alternately reversing and driving forward for a while which can jolt it free. If not it's...

Is it an option in the UK or do you have to activate it somehow?
Pro Nav should come with voice control as a by-product otherwise you need other options.

Re: Charge cards for UK trip

Good luck in Wales  it's pretty scant! A few rapids on M4 / A55 but that's about it. Type 2 chargers at destinations and car parks. I have Ecotrcity App for rapids. For others I carry chargemaster / polar RFID and have PodPoint App. If you're planning on being in South Wales and need any tips,...

Re: Charger tripping

fixing it is not a simple matter of replacing the 32A CB in the MCU with a 40A CB. The whole circuit must be replaced to support a 40A load - new CB, new cabling. Agreed, I am not going to just put a 40amp CB on a circuit not designed for 40amps but when installing a 32amp charger, no self respecti...

Re: Charger tripping

Just to clarify, the RCBO on the charger has never tripped. It's the circuit breaker on the main consumer unit that's been tripping. The RCBO on the consumer unit has not tripped ever either so it's not earth fault related. It's current related. The new RCBO unit they've fitted in the charger is the...

Re: Charger tripping

Given I watched or more accurately listened to the charge process today, it seems to me most likely that the constant level of draw is the problem. The CB has never tripped in response to surge (switching on / off etc and no sign of arcing) and as you point out, the surge level is typically 3+ times...

Re: Charger tripping

Did consider that. Given that there's no obvious indication of anything wrong in the car or the charger, I did consider whether the circuit breaker itself may be iffy. It's a fairly new house (1991) and everything else looks sound. I might try putting a new 32amp in place when I get chance just to s...

Re: Charger tripping

Boom! It tripped again last night so the Rolec RCBO is not the cause of the problem. I doubted it was as there was no sign of the burning shown in posts elsewhere regarding this part / unit. So today I have isolated a single power socket to give me live data from my smart meter and to ensure there i...

Re: Charger tripping

earlier units were fitted with a B32 RCBO which on occasion trips and burns out the neutral cable connection on the top. Later units are fitted with a D40 RCBO. I have a current clamp on my charger feed cable and my i3 would pull nearly 34amps - thus regularly tripping the RCBO in the unit. Since c...
