Re: High beam and Dome light mod - pics included

Interior lights are all LED.
Another mod I plan to do is to install LED bulbs for the front corner lights. I did a full LED conversion of my X5 and it looks so much better.

Well said. Unfortunately so many not humans are found behind the steering wheel that the low-tech autopilot looks like a masterpiece compared to them :D

Re: BMW i3 auxiliary battery sizes

The 20ah battery is underspec'd and of questionable quality Of questionable quality, maybe. Maybe that explains your repeated 12 V battery failure. Underspec'd, almost certainly not. Since driving with a voltmeter in the center auxiliary power port, I've noticed that the DC-DC charger is almost alw...

Re: i3 Accident Collision :(

The owner's manual shows the position of the i3's fuse panel...it's on the bottom of the dash on the passenger's side of the car (at least on the left-hand drive version in the USA), and you remove a couple of quarter-turn anchors to drop it down. I do not know if there are any other, auxiliary fus...

Re: i3 Accident Collision :(

I have read several reports of i3's involved in accidents that required that the battery pack case be dropped after an accident that resulted in airbags being deployed. Was that just BMW's requirement to check that the battery pack had not been damaged or did some safety switch have to be replaced?...

Re: i3 Accident Collision :(

For what was BMW Sydney quoting $650 plus tax? If it was for the replacement of a safety device, you really can't avoid doing that if it has tripped. I would think that the safety device on the 12V battery would be relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. The safety device in the battery pack ca...

Re: i3 Accident Collision :(

Everytime the seat belt tensioner is triggered, the SBT(Safety Battery Terminal- this is the positive battery pyro-disconnect) will be triggered too, and has to be replaced. The EME takes a signal from the SBT thru a 5A fuse. If 12V from the SBT is not present the high voltage contactors in the EME ...

If they implement them today, tomorrow 50% of the cars would be off the road

Re: BMW i3 auxiliary battery sizes

I dont have the car in front of me. I may be mistaken because of the power distribution box which is on the passenger side.

Re: BMW i3 auxiliary battery sizes

I can't check our i3's battery now because I'm half way around the world. I recall that as it's installed in our i3, the positive terminal is on the right (i.e., on the driver's side for a LHD i3). But I can't recall whether the positive terminal is in the front or back right corner of the battery ...
