Re: move reversing lamps to the top set of tail-lights.

thanks for the suggestion. I vinyl wrapped the lower lamp units, they’re almost invisible on the black car, but still plenty of light intensity for reversing.
No rewiring required.

Re: More aftermarket wheels

I’ve been doing some measuring of i8 tyres (on the early-model 7j and 7.5j rims). With 25mm spacers, the i8 wheels will fit an i3. The front wheels are the tight fit, the coil springs only have 4mm clearance using a 190 tyre. I have aftermarket springs which are shorter but +4mm diameter. I’ll be ru...

water ‘sloshing sound’ from sills

Has anyone heard any sloshing water sound coming from anywhere in their i3’s bodywork? I have a 2016 BeV, the only liquid that should be in the car is the front screen-wash bottle, the brake-fluid and possibly coolant around the battery. I can hear what sounds like several litres of water moving ins...

Re: Converting I3 from US CCS to EU CCS

Did you have any success with the charger update? I’m hoping to upgrade my UK model BEV to add the DC fast-charge socket. it only has the single type 2 socket now. Having worked on other parts of the car, I noticed BMW seems to leave the wiring for component options in the car’s loom, but the wires ...

Re: move reversing lamps to the top set of tail-lights.

Thanks for the replies. I found the lamp units in my UK- model tailgate panel are indicators that have white LED bulbs (they illuminate amber/orange). I’m going to tint the main part of the lower lights with dark-black tint for most of the lens, but use lighter tint for the ‘legality’ bits. Easy wit...

move reversing lamps to the top set of tail-lights.

Does anyone know what function illuminates the white lamps in the tailgate’s light-cluster? In my UK model BEV ( and my wife’s ReX), only the lower pair of lamps illuminate when reversing. I want to black-out the lower set of lamps and use the white LEDs in the tailgate lamps for the reversing light...

Re: Rear wiper delete

wiper delete completed! The interior trim panels have thre torx fasteners, two behind the clips that hold the warning triangle. Then the large panels pulls off (clips). The two vertical trim panels need to be pulled out of their clips before you can unhook the main centre panel from them. Three bolt...

Re: Rear wiper delete

I'm going to do same mod, do you have to remove the tailgate trim with any special tools?

Re: rapid charge retrofit?

This thread went off-topic, still interested in the DC retrofit for my BEV. I've not found a good source of a parts diagram 'microfiche' which would help us see the exploded views of components. Having explored the i3's motor-bay, things look far less intimidating under the hood than my old ICE vehi...

Re: traction/DSC warning light after running down to 2 miles range

that's a more logical explanation.
The BEV rode higher than my wife's ReX, the lowering only took it down to about -10mm different to her car.
If it'd been on the bump-stops with radical camber, then maybe the geom would affect sensor.
