Re: Range Question

Also note that the i3 will give a more accurate estimate of range if you use its navigation system, as it knows the topography of the route, and your selected route criteria. I find it consistent enough to be able to avoid REXing when within range of a suitable charging station. Enjoy your i3! Chris

i3 EDrive External Sound

This is an option on new i3 cars, and seems a good idea to alert people when driving slowly in busy areas. However, on asking my dealer (Cooper Reading, UK) if it could be retrofitted to my 2016 94Ah model, the surprising answer was NO! I wonder what other options I have, given the i3's complex syst...

Re: What I enjoy the most

I agree that the performance can be exhilarating (but watch the effect on the range...) however my enjoyment of it would be enhanced if BMW offered optional suitable sound effects- e.g. synthesized M5 engine & exhaust soundtrack. Not sure if this would be sensible as an exterior warning system! Chris

Re: I3 charging

Also, if you're in a place where it rains, an extension cord should end with an IP66 rated waterproof outlet box (essential for mine here in the UK!) I've also added a simple flexible cowl above the car's charging inlet. I've found the BMW type 2 accessory cable useful, as the 3kW to 7kW public char...

Re: Which options and trim levels do you prefer?

I bought a used model, so couldn't choose options, but the REX I've got has a sunroof, the Lodge trim (wool+leather) and is Protonic blue (I don't like neutral shades...) The only feature missing which I'd want is the speed limit camera, but the digital speedometer is very clear, and the 1-pedal con...

Re: BMW i3 To Get 43.2 kWh Battery Pack In Late 2018 (Rumor)

I'm a slightly reluctant i3 owner, as most of my motoring trips are long distance (> 100 miles) However, my 2016 i3 REX is proving up to the task on battery power alone, given some forethought in choosing coffee/meal stops with charging stations nearby. The car's intrinsic quality and features make ...
