Re: 2018 i3 Recall

Yes, you can still use the recall, the recall also covers Turbocords purchased through the parts department.

Re: Less charge with 110 and extension cord?

FWIW, I had an 'industrial' grade 20-amp 120V outlet that I plugged the car into, no heat buildup whatsoever. With the standard household 15amp sockets, it's luck of the draw- one in my garage got fairly warm, the other did not, the one that didn't get warm seemed slightly higher quality (different ...

This isn't quite the same, but you can cut the address from google maps, and then paste it into the BMW Connected app, from there you can "send to car". It sends a BMW message that pops up in your connected drive portal, from there you simply select the message, and it gives you an option to open it...

Re: So it seems if your i3 was made on or before 06/15 your remote and emobility services last for 10 years?

Well this isn't exactly news to me, I decided to do some digging after realizing a discrepancy between when mine expires (2024) and when Slypig's expires (2019), which lead me down a rabbit hole to this: https://www.bmwusa.com/content/dam/bmwusa/connected-drive/pdf/ServiceAvailabilityMatrix.pdf . Th...

Re: Less charge with 110 and extension cord?

Before I got my OpenEVSE, I used a couple of different extension cords. 10AWG will work admirably, but it will be fairly bulky-basically imagine a dryer cord... For me I found the biggest source of heat was the connectors, while higher quality extension cords should have better receptacles on them, ...

Re: Rex MPG?

This is extremely anecdotal, and involved climbing up a fairly steep hill.... I burned a little over 1/4 Gallon of gas (1.3L to be exact), and traveled about 8-9 miles with that. If we multiply 1.3L by the amount to reach one gallon (2.91), and the distance traveled by the same amount, I got about 2...

Enabling iDrive Office.

Ok, so I coded in iDrive Office using the i3 Bimmercode cheat sheet as reference, though I did use E-SYS to do so. However, despite the Office menu showing up in the main menu, I do not receive any messages through the system. I've tried re-pairing my iPhone 6s, but hasn't made any difference. My ot...

Re: 2019 i3

That article says that production will begin in November, so I'd expect the car in early January at the earliest. It probably misses the mark to be delivered before Christmas.

Re: New i3 Owner

That is correct, the only tires available in the 20-inch size are the EP500 summer tires. This was a major consideration for me when buying the car. It seems like even to this day there's a debate going on whether 20s or 19s are better. Since I am still a new owner, I haven't driven my car with the ...

Re: New i3 Owner

That's comforting. I have the Blizzaks, but would really like to try Nokian R2, though I'll wait till my Blizzaks are worn out. One thing I found interesting is that Nokian now has an R3 snow tire. My level 2 EVSE should arrive today (I got an OpenEVSE unit), I was really lucky as there was already ...
