Yes I do believe that the tracking is possible even you "disconnect" the gps tracking, that is just a gadget that you self can not locate the vehicle but the "alert" button stills keep his function so the car can be tracked. In my M135i had to sign a paper by my dealer so BMW would not track the car...

This has not directly anything to do with the connected drive or maybe it will... were is the control box for this system in the i3 ? In my M135i it is in the back under the trunck panel, there are two wires for a antenna, if you remove them the car can not be tracked anymore but your gps lost his f...

You can place a hidden button that cuts of a wire / fuse that is needed to "start" the car , I use a autoswitch so I is working automatic and do not need to push the button each time I want to drive away, this is in my other BMW's never thought of doing this to the i3. Maybe in the future wen I have...

I putted the Rials X10 with all seasons on my car, I kept the pizza 5" as a spare, I put the 3 others for sale as a spare but not enough i3's out there
to sell them in the near future :) .

I have Bimmercode working with my Veepeak BLE ODB through an Android phone. Works well. A review I read said that CarScanner was a good app for reading and resetting error codes. I have installed it but it doesn't appear to be compatible with the i3. This thread mentions ESYS, but I can't find that...

No matter what that guy says, that big screen seems very distracting to me, it is nice to have in a fully automated car.
