Re: replacing windshield -- any BMW service needed after replacement?

eNate --- Short answer is YES. State Farm confirmed 2 things. 1. Since the i3 has advanced driver assistance, State Farm will reimburse in full a BMW recalibration. 2. Since the i3 has advanced driver assistance, State Farm authorizes (and recommends) that i use BMW OEM windshield. The State Farm pe...

Re: replacing windshield -- any BMW service needed after replacement?

Wow...i am having fun. so.... State Farm (my insurance) will cover Safelite fully and will cover that similar amount (not full cost) of the total cost if i bring it to a BMW dealer. So, i can always bring to anyone, it just may not be fully covered. According to the Safelite website --- https://www....

Re: hotel/motels w/charging in San Luis Obispo & Pasadena?

Thanx for feedback.

Finally learned how to use https://www.plugshare.com/ and the "amenities" filter locate several LA/Pasadena area hotels under $200/night.

Re: hotel/motels w/charging in San Luis Obispo & Pasadena?

Thanx for the tip on using Plugshare.

The many different plug types are throwing me. I assume that i3 owners can only use 2 types --- J1772 and CHAdEMO (DC fast charge). That sure limits the chargers i can use.

thoughts please....

hotel/motels w/charging in San Luis Obispo & Pasadena?

Planning a drive to San Luis Obispo and Pasadena. Looking for hotel/motel recommendations in San Luis Obispo and Pasadena with EV charging. OR EV charging close (1 to 2 blocks) to hotel/motel. Found the Madonna Inn which has 2 -universal chargers (accept J1772) and 14 Teslsa chargers. Says their uni...

Re: New Juice EV Charger

I received this newer version when my JuiceBoxPro 40 (received & installed around November 15th) started to throw errors consistently -- all 3 lights on front panel flashed together in 1 second intervals when i removed the charger from the i3. At first i thought it was because i was pulling it out t...

Re: Maintain SOC - where (if at all) is the usage of REx stored?

Thanks MKH/Mark --- My question is just because we turned something on that is not officially authorized for USA vehicles, if the REx is not overused (whatever that "number" is), BMW should still be liable for repair. Wanted to know if actual limits of use are established by BMW and actual usage of ...

Maintain SOC - where (if at all) is the usage of REx stored?

Ok. Now that many of us have turned on maintain state of charge menu pick, what happens when BMW says, " Sorry, you have a USA car and have enabled a feature that was not sold in the USA. So, we are denying your claim on replacing the REx system that has failed under the warranty period." Is the his...

Re: Any good independent mechanics that work on i3s in the Bay Area?

I used my old Mini Cooper (second generation version) for a minor (light) fix on my 2017 i3 with REx. He bought an i3 (2015 or 2016 version) last year to begin practical training/learning on i3's. Here is his website --- http://www.baybridgemotors.com/ They work on BMW's and Mini Coopers. Worked on ...
