Re: My husband hit an illegal left turn and now the damage on our i3

Is the top of the passenger side door pushed away from the top of the car or is that just a reflection making it look that way. Assuming that the passenger door is ok, the damage that I can see doesn't look quite as bad as mine after I hit a deer. Mine took out the LED headlight which is pretty expe...

Re: My i3 commited suicide via Active Cruise Control ACC

If you are going through Insurance for repairs, the Body Shop has to use new BMW parts. That's one reason it is so pricey and takes so long. If you are paying out of pocket, they have the option to source used stuff for much less. Depends upon the insurance company. I have Safeco and they refused t...

Re: My i3 commited suicide via Active Cruise Control ACC

I would definitely get a second estimate. I can't imagine that with the colission that you described that both headlights would need replacing. However, I can tell you from experience, this will be an expensive repair. My i3 has been in the body shop for 6 weeks now, mostly waiting on parts, and the...

Re: Highest Mileage i3/REX?

As of today (Feb. 28, 2021).....My 2014 i3/rex has 153,000 miles on it. Bought used in 2017 with 48,000. Top electric range at full is only 60 miles or so (eco pro +). All said, I have had no maintenance except a replacement 12v aux battery, front brake pads and tires and oil change. Daily commute ...

Re: Removing water spots on the black-top i3

The basics aren't complicated. Claybar and then use a good sealant. How often? Depends upon the product you use and the conditions your car finds itself in (e.g., Garaged or not? Harsh sun or moderate climate? Harsh winter weather and salty roads?). But you will generally know when it's time for ano...

Re: Removing water spots on the black-top i3

Wow, all these cleaning products. I end up havivg no clue what to use. Don't over think it. Just pick any of the brand name product lines and go with it. Meguires, Mothers, Chemical Guys, Griot's, are just a few examples. You really can't make a bad choice with any of them. Your only mistake would ...

Re: Removing water spots on the black-top i3

If the water spots are light, just claybar it and then use a good polymer sealant. I use Rejex on all of my vehicles, but there are lots of great products out there. If the water spots are really heavy you might need to use a cleaner or very fine polishing compound.

Re: I Officially Hate Deer

So my car is still not fixed. It has been waiting on elves in the Black Forrest to build some electrical connectors (fuel flap release, frunk release, etc) that apparently got broken in the collision. They finally got the parts but now I just got a call from the shop today saying that the new LED he...

Funny! Finding deer around my neck of the woods is pretty easy. We commonly refer to them as very big, annoying rodents. Although those of us who happen to hit one have more colorful descriptions...
