Re: Extended Warranty

Most aftermarket warranties aren't set up for EVs and don't cover the major expensive bits. Many also have small-print loopholes that let them weasel out of major repairs. For the i3, only 'good' warranties are the one from Carmax (they basically cover everything, and just have BMW do the repairs),...

PART DIY HOME 32A CHARGER INSTALLATION

Has anyone with sound DIY electrical skills install their own 32A 7Kwh Home Charger? ( perhaps a basic charger) I look at installing a home charger as just another power tool device plugged into the power supply but this requries specialised handling at the supply end. Say, run a 32A+ cable from the...

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

Alex, correct the Rex does not run if state of charge is above 75%. It also wont run for mtce. if fuel level is below approx. 1/4. In this case you get bugged by display warnings until you relent and top it up so it can complete a 60 days 10 mins mtce run, then it shuts up for another two months. Y...

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

Thank you so much MKH I still want the rex, but in some dilemma. Your rex is quiet. yet , which sounds very encouraging However , the Rex tested was out in the cold, and had 2-3% charge, A mechanic suggested that because it was cold, and with low charge, the moment the engine powered up, Auto-choke ...

Re: Road Tax Charge (UK)

And not forgetting, that someone has to pay for all the nice extra wide big bicycle lanes to finance cyclists who don't need to pay a penny.

Re: Road Tax Charge (UK)

Although Rex registered before 1Apr2017 still pays £0, and it used to enjoy free london congestion. from Oct 2021 this privilege no longer applies. and soon enough the £0 tax ( to be reviewed annually) will become £145 or the equivalent going rate. because they class rex as hybrid . which it strictl...

Re: Road Tax Charge (UK)

Yes this suggests how the government just dishes out road taxes randomly willie nillie without any basis whatsoever, or knowing exactly what they are doing to treat motorists with some respect. They need the money, so they just sit down and seemingly might as well toss a coin. I have friends who als...

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

Thanks for all your kind help. The Rex provides peace of mind. just the wretched noise. If maintenance decides tocome on in a build up area in heavy jam. it will p-off everyone in the vicinity. and i get dirty looks. if not car jacked. I will look around and see if there is a way of disconnecting it...

Re: Very loud REX - any solutions?

During my test drive at this deal, the battery was about 2%. As soon as he powered up the car ( every time) the REX came on with this non-stop rattling. I might still buy the car IF 1) the range extender trigger can be adjusted or reduced to 2% instead of 5-6% 2) when the maintenance cycle starts it...
