Re: Checking Battery Health for Used i3

The nominal new usable capacity is 18.8 kWh, so 14.2 kWh suggests a 25% usable capacity loss which isn't very good Not sure how much I trust battery kappa readings. After a month or more of daily short trips (15 miles), with no preconditioning set or used, recharging daily or every two days, was se...

Re: Air conditioning failed

I'd pay to have only a new compressor installed but nothing more Add in replacing the AC condenser - parts cost is around $400 (the radiator thing in the front). From my retired AC mechanic neighbor, the flow channels in the condenser are so small, they will have trapped most of the shrapnel from a...

Re: Checking Battery Health for Used i3

My used 2015 i3 with REX showed 14.2 is that a good number? I'm so new to this and have no idea. Could someone provide some info?
What range are you getting, and under what driving conditions?

Re: Remarkable end-of-lease buyout offers from BMWFS

Yeah, the only time BMW was willing to negotiate on a lease buyout was when no-one was buying used cars during the worst of Covid. Dealer's used car lots were full and they wouldn't take them, and the normal lease disposal route of auction companies was the same - and BMW was stuck with paying for s...

Re: It’s a cash cow the bad tire scam

Tirerack is also a great source for i3 tires. Similar prices to Costco, and free overnight shipping to most places in the USA. The even have mobile installers in many cities, who come to you with a fully equipped tire-shop-in-a-van and will install them in your driveway (as a bargain rate compared t...

The "fine" is they seize the car and have it destroyed. At your expense.
Yeah, and they aren't kidding! They literally impound the car and then immediately crush it into scrap. Here is a MINI Cooper that was seized for being illegally imported.

Re: I had a 3G to 4G TCU upgrade to prove a point.

I wonder if the BMW Dealer has to do anything 'special' in registering the modem with BMW, other than programming it to the car with ISTA+?? Does ISTA programming pass on/register the new phone/ID number to the BMW Connected Drive server? Or is there some extra registration step that must be done by...

Re: Battery Replacement Under Warranty

If the local dealer is prepared to replace the AC compressor and the fan, that's a big bonus. Parts and labor puts that job at over $2 grand. And the replacement compressor will be a newer version that hasn't been prone to heat-failure. Third party reporting agencies provide limited, basic info, onl...
