Re: New i3 owner from TX

Hi Alohart: Thanks, good info. Yeah, JuiceBox was one of the three top contenders I was considering, Clipper Creek being the other. If eMotorworks still made the classic model, without the wifi and voice control, which I don't need or want, and adds to the cost, I might have been tempted - but 6% tr...

Re: New i3 owner from TX

I looked at several, including Juice Box, but was a little leery of the raft of negative reviews on Amazon. Was looking for US made with adjustable amp settings in the hardware, not the (sometimes flaky) software - as I have only a 100 amp panel, which will take another 30 amp double-pole 220 breake...

Re: 2018 i3 Recall

VAShel - the reason they want your car in the service department for an hour, is so they can charge BMW for an hour's worth of service, as part of processing the recall on the turbocoard. If they just let you exchange the turbocord, all they can have BMW pay for is the new turbocord.

Re: Help! mY 2016 rex gas range never goes over 50

If your building has two charge spots, are they always the same cars, all day, or do they switch out? Option would be trying to get to know who is charging, Leave nice notes on windshield, and ask to coordinate swapping out cars via texts, etc. Or try coming early and see if you can beat them in (or...

Re: Help! mY 2016 rex gas range never goes over 50

Colder weather definitely impacts range - the car is using some of its charge to warm the batteries to optimal operating temperature. Your commute is pushing your range beyond the car's electric range, Any chance of plugging the car in at work? Even plugging in to a standard 110 outlet during the da...

Re: Help! mY 2016 rex gas range never goes over 50

The range is the car's computer "guesstimate" based on the last 20 minutes or so of driving style & conditions, temperature, efficiency setting, climate control settings, etc - both electric and extender - since the extender is just an on-board gas-powered electricity generator. Mine shows 50 right ...

Re: Next model after 120ah i3

Here's hoping that charging becomes easy, fast, and fairly priced everywhere. It's going to take awhile. Hear, Hear! :D And I think it will come. We are still "early adopters". In the next 5 years several major car manufacturers will be approaching 50% of their line-up being BEV's or PEVs (includin...

Re: Next model after 120ah i3

I think economics plays an important part in getting an infrastructure of CCS units rolling out. Gas prices in the UK and EU are $5.50 to $5.80 a gallon US equivalent - which makes alternatives attractive - and pushes the market. Auto manufacturing is a "world market" even for US based entities like...
