Re: My Virgin Charge Was a Nightmare!!!

Actually that's what's called HIGH POWER. L3 is 50kW. L2 is 24kW DC/19kW AC, L1 is 7.2kW, etc home charging Below that is plug in the wall. Not sure where you got your information. In North America : AC Level 1: 120 VAC 1 phase up to 16 A (1.92 kW) AC Level 2: 208-240 VAC 1 phase up to 80 A (19.2 k...

Re: i3 Motor/gearbox failure... help!

There are many reports of gearbox/motor failures, most are fixed under warranty, so make sure you get a warranty. I've been a member of this forum and the Facebook Worldwide BMW i3 group for ~7 years. I've read very few reports of motor or gearbox failures, certainly many fewer than A/C compressor ...

Re: Main battery "too high discharge" warning

The same message would be displayed with a good but discharged 12 V battery, so before replacing it, try charging it with a battery charger. Because we'd been driving our i3 only ~150 km per month during the pandemic, its 12 V battery wasn't being charged enough to offset the 12 V vampire loads (e.g...

In the name of discovery I'll plug mine in later today and confirm it works, since I have the adapter already made up.
Be sure to wear your magic smoke mask :D

Re: i3 HV Battery Upgrade

Lyon came up with a battery package that would extend battery range to 400 miles, unfortunately BMW will not allow them to sell to the public. BMW couldn't prevent a 3rd-party supplier from selling parts for the i3. Lyon built this battery pack to demonstrate its wireless battery cell interconnect ...

Re: 1700 miles in 48 hours -- 120 Ah BEV...

The heat pump is a must have in my opinion and should be standard on BEV's like it was in earlier years. Especially since it's only $150 dollars for thousands in parts. Seems like an overkill way to drop the MSRP. For those few of us living in the tropics where cabin heat is never needed, paying fo...

Four discrete speakers or a pair of two-way speakers? Since the service manual website went offline it is impossible to look anything up.
Not sure although realOEM shows what appears to be 4 discrete speakers described as woofer and mid-range.

The HK option was out when I ordered. I wanted to get it, but my wife didn't care about it, and she is the primary driver, I settled on the crappy audio (is there another car with 2 speakers on the market?)
There are actually 4 speakers on the base entertainment system, all up front.

Re: Mystery Steering Noise

I did some Google searches on it and all I came up with is one guy's YouTube video, where he claimed the hydraulic steering lines were hitting the under-body. I'm guessing from the increased pressure when the wheel is turned. The i3 has no hydraulic steering lines because it doesn't have hydraulic ...

Re: 2017 to 2021 changes, peeves addressed (cruise, mute)...

I just edited one in: auto time set clock adjustments. My 2017 would advance by a few minutes and never self-correct. That bug seems to have been squashed. I suspect that the difference is that a coding parameter's value had been changed for your 2021 i3 compared with your 2017. I changed the value...
