Re: Air conditioning failed

My 2014 BEV's A/C started to get weak after about two years of ownership. The dealer diagnosed the issue as a problem with the "refrigerant pressure temperature sensor 2", part 64 53 9 306 477. They evacuated the system and recharged it and it has been ice-cold for the past three years. Definitely h...

Re: Rear Bumper Guard/Protection

I asked the folks that did my paint protection film install (clear bra) to do a custom piece for the rear cargo lip. It has done fairly well, though a careless loading maneuver made it almost all the way through the film. symonray asks if anyone has experience with the Lamin-X product. The specs at ...

We're alive / we're dead

I've been a long-time BMW owner and have never seen a prior model's lifespan whipsawed like what's happened with the i3. It seems every six months the i3 has either its end in sight or is getting further development. Add in the i5, the i4, the Vision iNext... electrification of the rest of the produ...

Re: My i3 is Dead

Turns out that this is the original battery that came in this 2014 i3/REX. I just checked it with my meter and it shows 5.7v, so hopefully replacing that battery will get me going again! Fisher99 – When you tested your aux battery, was there a load on it when you got that 5.7V reading? Thanks!

A thread from May 2019 (for future thread-readers):

"Sunshades for the windshield that work"

I like my Heatshieldstore.com shade and haven't found it difficult to manage.

alohart –

Thanks for providing the detail that the 40Ah battery is lead-acid.

No way I want that heavy junk in my CF EV machine!

Re: My i3 is Dead

MKH – Thank you for the great info regarding East Penn! Coming up on five years with my 2014 BEV I'm thinking I need to have an AUX 18L on hand. Re: metal to metal sound

Hello Zwerius – The problem you describe is almost exactly what I had with my 2014 i3 BEV. I'm the original owner. MKH mentions motor mount bolts replacement. This is addressed by BMW SI B22 04 15, "Replace the engine mount screw connection", which I had done after about two years of ownership. A fe...

Re: Sunshades for the windshield that work

I drive in the Western US and have had a good experience with my Heatshield for the windshield. It rolls up and has a Velcro closure – I toss it in the back seat when not using it. I bought mine in 2014 – Heatshield hadn't yet worked out an exact fit but looking at pics on their website today it app...
