Re: November Update,...free?

It was my understanding that the November update was supposed to be free. My dealer is telling me that have to charge for it. Can anyone point me to the official BMW statement on it? Thanks. It's definitely free. Call the BMW i concierge if your dealer insists on charging you for it the iConcierge ...

Re: About to buy an i3. Will it be ok in winter driving?

The 20" Sport wheels only come with Summer tires and there are no All Season or Winter tire options available for that unique wheel size. So if you buy an i3 with the 20" sport wheel option, you'll have to buy 19" wheels along with the 19" snow tires and swap out the whole set for the winter. That's...

BMW's commitment to DC Fast charge infrastructure

I sat down with the BMW EV infrastructure team at the LA Auto Show to talk DC fast charge. Below is part one of a two part post covering the interview:

i3 "Melts Away" in home fire

Cars never fare well when they burn up in a fire. However since the i3 uses very little steel, and has a CFRP passenger compartment covered with thermoplastic exterior body panels, it basically melts away in a fire. Here's some pictures of what happens to an i3 involved in a fire: http://bmwi3.blogs...

Re: New 2014 REx model

In service date is good - still valid for rebates. Looks like it does not come with the DC fast charge option. Is it a big loss if I am planning on using it as a commuter? Personally, I wouldn't buy an EV that didn't have the ability to DC Fast charge, but that's me and I know how I use my cars. Th...

Re: New 2014 REx model

Also, make sure it wasn't titled already. If it was, then you aren't eligible for the federal tax credit of $7,500 and that money should come right off the top before you even get more of a discount because you're basically taking a two year old car off their hands!

Re: 2017 13 to have new battery cells and longer range?

In response to the article below, my local BMW i agent confirmed that in the UK full details of an updated battery on the i3 would be available at the end of this year http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/i3/93502/bmw-to-extend-i3s-electric-range-in-2016-update? But when will the upgraded i3 be availab...

2017 13 to have new battery cells and longer range?

Ever since BMW CEO Harold Krueger said in 2016 the i3 would get a longer range last month, the media has been speculating what exactly that means. Recently some "insiders' have claimed the additional range would come from BMW replacing the i3's current 60 Ah cells with Samsung's new 94 Ah cells. I'v...

Re: Looking for White or Ionic Silver i3 owner NJ/NYC/Brookl

Hi guys, I have a fun request for you proud i3 owners in the NYC metro area. I'm shooting a short promotional video for a dental client and we'd love for our dental technician to drive up to a consumer's house in an i3. It's a futuristic service that is like Uber for orthodontic care and the i3 is ...
