Re: Downgrading screen anyone have the original coding?

BimmerCode stores backups of past configurations. If you know when you made the coding changes to install the larger screen, you could restore the backups saved just before you installed the screen. Or you could just restore the earliest backups (one per module) since you're selling the car which sh...

Re: Software update needed for HV battery capacity check

I said just check the battery like I asked, that's when they came back requiring a software update. I'm suspicious about this software update requirement. Might it be that recent software versions fix a BMS problem that results in the gradual loss of usable capacity in 60 Ah i3's? If so, BMW should...

Is there a zip drive I can order and do this myself?
Unfortunately, not. Media and phone updates can be downloaded to a zip drive and installed in an i3, but system software updates cannot.

Re: BMW i3 was ahead of its time AGAIN!

Tesla's bold proclamation was "No LIDAR!" They're at 8 cameras per vehicle, used a powerful Nvidia graphics processor as a place holder while they designed their own silicon, and continually tweeked their design until they had data to show that the radar was mostly redundant and could be removed fr...

And yes I am finding Art is always the one with all the answers. :D I've participated in this forum since we bought our 2014 BEV in November, 2014. I've learned a lot from those before me and try to pass it forward. I was a pioneer buying a 2000 Honda Insight, the first hybrid sold in the U.S., a 2...

Re: Passenger Safety Restraint Malfunction

This is all new to me...Which OBD dongle would you recommend? I have an Vgate iCar 2 OBD-WiFi dongle that's no longer in the BimmerCode and BimmerLink developer's approved dongle list but was several years ago when I first licensed BimmerCode. It continues to work flawlessly with BimmerCode, but I ...

Re: CSS Charging Port - 2013

Enter its VIN on the mdecoder VIN decoder Website and look for the S4U7 Rapid Charging, Direct Current option.

I would be very surprised if someone had gone to the trouble to install a fake DC fast charging port.

Re: My beautiful brick.

It sounds like your replacement 12 V battery wasn't fully charged as you've guessed. There's no telling how long a 12 V battery has been on a shelf waiting to be sold (well, there is a manufacture date embossed on the bottom of the plastic case where it can't be read after the battery has been insta...

Re: Break service needed already? 2017 Rex with under 37,000 km

I got this note "Noticed front brake getting low, (see quote) Recommend rear brake service." Huh? A front pad is getting thin, so this mechanic recommends rear brake service! That doesn't make much sense. You might ask this mechanic to clarify what he wrote. Maybe he meant to write that he recommen...

Re: Passenger Safety Restraint Malfunction

My seat has now dried out--it has been days; however, I still have the passenger airbag light/warning./quote] You might need to delete the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that was set when the seat got wet. Licensing BimmerLink and buying a recommended OBD dongle would certainly cost less than a deal...
