Re: Short Road Trip in BWM i3

If anyone has any advice on road-tripping the i3, or shooting video on a road trip, I'd love to hear it. I catch myself taking for granted how many DC charging options are available in my area to the point that I never feel in a bind. I should do like you and just venture out. I was pleased to see ...

Re: BMW i3 was ahead of its time AGAIN!

They've indicated they'll disable certain autonomous features with this change. Who knows how much it cost cutting, versus feature differentiation from the X and S, versus hardware and software advancements they've made. I'll tell you this: radar plus the single camera on my ID.4 is butter compared ...

Re: BMW i3 was ahead of its time AGAIN!

That cool! Except in BMW's case they proclaimed "Camera only!" and closed the i3 design book forever. Tesla's bold proclamation was "No LIDAR!" They're at 8 cameras per vehicle, used a powerful Nvidia graphics processor as a place holder while they designed their own silicon, and continually tweeked...

Re: Delphi Charger Blinking Red Only on "Charging Fault"

I'm not clear -- was this unit working correctly and then stopped working? Or is this the first time you're using it? It's possible to have whole-house bad wiring. I had new service connected to the house about 10 years ago. I was getting peculiar behavior with seemingly random blown circuits. One d...

Re: Drivetrain malfunction + sudden 22% drop in GOM

Shouldn't be any kind of "switch over," if the box is 4G then it should have been using 4G all along, despite what the icon on the screen says.

Re: BMW Connected drive 3G to 4G?

The SIM is just a serial number to identify the device / account. Kind of like when I recently changed from my previous 4G phone (which also supported 2G and 3G) to a new 5G capable phone (which also supports 4G and CDMA / EVDO) -- I just swapped the old SIM into the new phone, it power up, connecte...

Rain is fine. The connector is double shrouded in a way that it would take a real sustained direct blast of water to infiltrate. Some owners in colder areas have problems with snow and ice making disconnect difficult. Leaving it plugged in for days is fine. Charging shuts down once full, and there's...

Re: upgrade charging

That's a good point -- I've seen some fairly narrow low-rate time windows from other members, particularly some EU owners. In PG&E territory in NorCal, my TOU plan gives me a pretty broad low-rate window: midnight to 3 PM. I wonder if I should feel bad that I charge at work from about 3 pm until 11?...

Re: My beautiful brick.

I think you're on the right track getting a charge on the 12 volt. You wouldn't be the first to install a partially charged Remy and have a continuation of symptoms. Did you happen to measure the voltage on it?
