I agree, they are high for a daily driver. But not high as a collectible.

I hope i3 will command that sort of prices at some point, but neither is an investment car. A Tesla Roadster or BMW i8 could command several time purchase price at some point. I don't think that will happen with i3.

looks OK the way it is. It is the last special edition, I wouldn't modify it. It will be a classic soon.

There are some factors that affect battery life, for example cold weather, not driving long distances frequently.

See if there is an open recall on your car. You can check this using your VIN. If not I would still check with a nice dealer. This is a well known defect with early i3s and BMW could fix it out of warranty.

There could be issues with the engine due to lack of use. I am pretty sure it not related to enabling the range extender option.
